Kumho is a South Korean tyre company. It is one of the largest manufacturers of car tires in the world. The company started its activity under the name Samyang Tire in the sixties of the last century. The manufacturer focused on the production of tires for compact passenger cars.

Within a few years, the small company has grown its business. In the late sixties, Samyang supplied tyres for the first assembly for Daewoo, Kia and Hyundai vehicles. In the following years, the export and production of tires for industrial and agricultural applications began. In 1978, the company changed its name to Kumho.
