Inspiration: Etudes Op. 25 – the second cycle of 12 Etudes by Fryderyk Chopin devoted to Countess d’Agoult. Composed for piano in the years 1835-1837. According to the name (French: étude = study, exercise) these are works used to improve piano technique. For the first time in the history of this genre, these are not “simple and boring” exercises, but small masterpieces, diverse in their expression.
