• 1948 – Three tyre manufacturers – Bata, Rubena and Mitas – merge in the Czech city of Zlín. The first letters of the names of the founding companies form the Barum brand.

• 1994 - Barum obtains the Lloyd’s Register Certificate in accordance with ISO 9001 regarding the quality of the production process of tyres for passenger cars; in the following year this certificate is extended to the production process of agricultural and truck tyres.
• 1996 - Tyre production at the Otrokovice plant reaches almost 6 million units.
• 1997 - Barum Continental is the first company in the Czech Republic to receive ISO 14 001 and EMAS certification for meeting environmental standards.
• In July, the Czech Republic and the Barum factory are affected by the catastrophic floods that have caused losses of nearly one million Czech crowns.
• 1999 - Annual production of passenger car tyres exceeds 11 million; in June, for the first time in the history of the factory, production of passenger car tyres exceeds one million units.
• 2001 - Start of production at the new High-Tech Cell plant.
• 2002 - Start of production of new Barum Bravuris tyres allowing to drive at speeds up to 240 km/h, the total production of tyres exceeds the level of 15 million units.
• 2008 - Establishment of the trading company ContiTrade Services s.r.o. (BestDrive)
• 2010 - 40. anniversary of the Barum Czech Rally with a record number of guests and media representatives.
• 2012 - Change of company name to Continental Barum s.r.o.
• 2013 - Launch of the new generation of Barum Bravuris 3HM high mileage tyres (HM).
• 2016 - Opening of a new hall for the production of truck tires with a planned annual production capacity of 700,000 units worth CZK 4.2 billion.
• 2017 - The number of employees at the plant in Otrokovice reaches the level of 4800, and the company becomes the largest employer in the Zlín region. The annual production of tires for passenger cars exceeds 21 million, and truck tires reach almost 1 million pieces.

Barum remains one of the leading tyre manufacturers in the region. The company’s tyres are sold throughout Europe.

Barum Bravuris 5HM

Technological properties:

The Bravuris 5HM uses a High Mileage compound with new polymer technology that provides a high level of abrasion resistance. The innovative central rib design with optimized transverse grooves and lamellas guarantees low rolling resistance. The newly developed tread structure optimizes the distribution of forces to maintain even pressure on the surface. This helps to avoid irregular wear and tear – and provides a truly unique, long-lasting mileage!

With the latest improved silica compound, the Bravuris 5HM provides low rolling resistance and top-notch grip. Closed blocks on both sides and patented locking lamella design improve tread stiffness, leading to unprecedented grip and giving you full steering control.

The tyre uses a very flexible compound with improved components, which significantly reduces rolling resistance. The optimized tread pattern and tyre contour minimizes deformation and prevents heat build-up. This means less friction, low rolling resistance – and ultimately low fuel consumption.
