SEAC LIBERA - Full face mask for snorkelling

Let’s take a look at security, which is the most important thing for the Italian company SEAC.

Feeling tired and accumulating CO2 in the respiratory system can lead to potentially serious consequences, even during small physical loads such as snorkeling. That is why SEAC adheres to two basic principles when designing full face masks for snorkelling:

1. the user should use the least possible breathing effort, comparable to natural breathing, from water and in a relaxing situation;
2. and the level of residual carbon dioxide CO2 in the shield during inhalation must be well below the safety limits.

Although there are no specific European regulations governing the production of full face masks for surface diving, SEAC® has developed a number of detailed tests in accordance with the values set out in the following European regulations:

• EN 1972:2015 lays down requirements for the design and manufacture of snorkels - reducing breathing effort;
• EN 16805:2015 lays down requirements for the design and manufacture of diving masks;
• EN 136:2000 lays down minimum requirements for the production of full face protective masks, limited to CO2 testing in inhaled air;
• EN 250:2014 on the independent compressed air breathing apparatus with open circuit and parts thereof, limited to tests to check CO2 inhaled air.

In SEAC laboratories, batches of full face masks are tested with Ansti machines, especially to measure the dynamic performance of human respiration, and with the proprietary SEAC equipment for checking CO2 levels in the air inhaled by masks.
