Key components

Video recording parameters

• Available video recording modes:

  4K 30fps + 1080p 30fps

• Night Vision mode allows you to bring out even more detail when recording at night, especially in very low light conditions.
• The angle of view of the lens in the front camera is 162 degrees (front camera) and 139 degrees (rear camera).
• H.265 or H.264 image compression, MP4 file format, camera creates separate MP4 clips for front and back channels. The main feature of H.265 image compression is high image quality despite lowering the bitrate degree, resulting in reduced video file size. So we get a file with the same video quality, but with a much smaller volume - thanks to this we will save much more material on the memory card.
• The maximum bitrate in 4K30+1080p30 mode is approx. 25 Mbps with front camera and approx. 10 Mbps from the rear camera (1 minute video footage from both channels takes approx. 270 MB). At a lower bitrate (8 Mbps), 1 minute of footage from both channels takes approx. 135 MB.
• Possibility to adjust the brightness level of the image (scale 1-5).

BlackVue over the Cloud - camera in the "cloud"

• "Over the Cloud" is an innovative and free service that allows you to connect the camera to the Internet, thanks to which you gain additional functionalities and the ability to remotely control the recorder from anywhere from your smartphone or computer.
• The function requires the presence of a WiFi access point installed in the car. Miniature WiFi/3G/LTE routers offering this type of functionality can be purchased e.g. in mobile network operators.
• After registering an account and camera, in the free BlackVue application for smartphones (Android, iOS) you get the ability to remotely control the camera via the Internet from anywhere - live image view, viewing and downloading video files on the memory card, changing camera settings, and even two-way voice communication.
• There is also a free application for PC (Windows) and Mac, providing the same functionality as in the smartphone application. BlackVue Viewer application can be downloaded on the manufacturer’s website.
• An important advantage of the service are push notifications - receive real-time messages on the smartphone application, e.g. if a collision is detected during a stopover.

Parking functions

• The recorder is equipped with the function of automatic parking mode, i.e. When the vehicle is stopped, the camera automatically switches to motion detection mode, i.e. recording video only when there is movement in the camera’s field of view. This allows you to get de facto round-the-clock monitoring of your vehicle’s surroundings.
• The motion detection function is cached, video recording takes place in advance and covers the time of a few seconds before the actual event.
• Motion detection includes both front and rear cameras. In addition, it is possible to define a specific area in the frame in which motion detection will be active (a feature available for firmware version v1.004 or later).
• Motion detection sensitivity is adjustable on a scale of 1-5, and in addition, the motion detection function can be disabled - in this case, only events detected by the G-Sensor will be recorded in parking mode (e.g. shocks, collisions, etc. ).
• Alternative continuous parking recording option in time-lapse mode (time-lapse recording) with an interval of 1 frame / sec (feature available for firmware version v1.004 or later). See an example time-lapse recording in parking mode...
• If a shock is detected in parking mode, when the mode is deactivated (e.g. after resuming driving) the user is informed about this fact by voice message (language. English).
• The proper functioning of the parking mode requires ensuring a constant supply of power to the recorder, also after turning off the vehicle ignition. Check out our range of dedicated BlackVue power adapters.

Wireless functions

• The WiFi module integrated in the camera in the 802.11n standard will enable wireless communication with the camera from the smartphone application (Android, iOS) in the immediate vicinity of the camera.
• The WiFi module used in the camera is dual band - so we can connect to networks at two different frequencies - 2.4GHz or 5GHz.
• The camera has its own built-in WiFi access point secured with a unique password (you can find the password on the label on the camera housing). It is possible to set your own password to secure the WiFi connection.
• After connecting the smartphone to the WiFi network of the camera, the application allows you to view the image from the live camera, view files from the memory card (also without having to download them), download the collected video files to the smartphone memory and change the camera settings.
• Option to automatically deactivate the WiFi receiver after 10 minutes of inactivity (no connection) to reduce power consumption.

Additional functions

• Integrated GPS receiver for measuring the current vehicle speed, geographical location and synchronization of date and time by satellite.
• The shock detector (G-Sensor) will automatically detect collisions or violent maneuvers and protect the current file on the memory card from being overwritten in a loop. The sensitivity of the G-Sensor can be adjusted separately for continuous recording mode (normal) and parking mode.
• The maximum number of secured files of the "EVENT" type is 50 and if this limit is reached, it is possible to overwrite the oldest files (a separate loop for "EVENT" files).
• Configurable proximity sensor on the left side of the camera - two functions to choose from: 1) turn off the microphone; 2) mark the current file for later playback.
• Voice notifications indicating the current status of the device, e.g. turning on the camera, starting recording, starting parking mode, etc. (in English). The volume of messages is adjustable in the range of 1-5.
• Option to add your own tag on a video image composed of letters and numbers (e.g. vehicle registration number or driver's name).
• Alert function about exceeding the set speed.
• Self-restart camera function at a specific time to ensure optimal performance and stability of operation.
• The button on the side of the case allows you to turn the WiFi receiver on/off, and after a long press also formatting the memory card.
• Configuration of all camera parameters is done via the Windows/Mac application or wirelessly using the BlackVue smartphone application (see above).
• Protection against overheating - function of automatic shutdown of the camera after exceeding the temperature approx. 75 degrees Celsius. Direct exposure of the camera to the sun on hot days can lead to the camera turning off automatically. The camera resumes operation after cooling the interior of the housing below approx. 75C.

Construction and installation method

• The characteristic shape of the camera ensures discretion of installation, so that it does not take up much space on the vehicle window, and also does not catch the eye from the outside.
• Attaching the holder to the glass with a strong and stable double-sided tape. It is not possible to use the suction cup (applies to both cameras).
• The handle clamp allows you to adjust the camera in the horizontal up-down axis (applies to both cameras).
• The mount allows you to mount the camera on a vertical glass, e.g. in a truck or bus (applies to both cameras).
• The front and rear cameras are connected by means of a coaxial signal cable with a length of approx. 6 meters, which is thin and easily hides under the upholstery of the vehicle. Optionally, longer signal cables are available, check out our range of dedicated accessories for BlackVue cameras.
• Possibility of mounting the rear camera "upside down" - in the camera settings there is an option of programmatic rotation of the image by 180 degrees.
• Signaling diodes on the housing with the possibility of their deactivation during the operation of the parking mode.

Power supply for the recorder

• Power supply from the cigarette lighter socket 12-24V using a dedicated power supply with a power cable of approx. 4.5 meters.
• Built-in supercapacitor instead of a typical Li-Ion battery - greater durability and resistance to atmospheric factors, such as very high or low temperature.
• The average power consumption when working with WiFi turned off is approx. 450 mA (4.56W at 12V). Actual wear may vary slightly depending on the working conditions and environment.

Support for memory cards

• Supports microSDHC/XC memory cards up to 512GB
• The maximum write time on the 512GB card is from approx. 32 hours of video footage from both channels (extreme mode). H.265 codec, bitrate 25Mbps/10Mbps) up to approx. 60 hours (normal mode, H.265 codec, 8Mbps/10Mbps bitrate).
• Memory cards with a capacity of 32GB or more require prior formatting to the FAT32 file system
