Original 3-wire cable designed to power all models of FineVu car video recorders from OBD-II diagnostic socket in vehicles with electrical installation only 12V. It allows you to perform a hidden or temporary (portable) installation providing the recorder with a continuous power supply +12V and switchable voltage +12V ACC, which allows you to automatically turn on / off the parking mode after turning off or starting the vehicle engine.

A cable with an ODB plug can be useful for cars that the manufacturer does not allow during the warranty period to connect external devices directly to the vehicle's electrical system. The OBD-II socket is a publicly available connector that anyone can use without a special pass. It is usually located under the dashboard on the driver’s side at a distance of approx. 60 cm from the steering wheel. In some cases, it may be in the center console.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Most often, in the OBD-II socket of most car models there is no available voltage switched on by the ignition (+12V ACC). Therefore, the FineVu OBD cable independently generates an ACC voltage (instead of a ignition), which automatically turns the parking mode of the recorder on and off depending on the engine operating status and the detected movement or stoppage of the vehicle. The built-in OBD-II plug, the electronic system measures the voltage in the car's electrical system, while the gravity sensor (G-sensor) detects shocks, vibrations, and acceleration to determine whether the vehicle is moving.

The recorder will start in DRIVING mode (the OBD cable will send the ACC voltage / ignition to the power socket of the FineVu recorder):

• after starting the engine, when the voltage in the vehicle installation reaches or exceeds the value of 13.3V,
• if the G sensor detects vehicle movement (shocks and acceleration). The ACC voltage will be maintained on for 10 minutes and after each subsequent detection of vehicle movement or vibration, the ACC on state will be extended for another 10 minutes.

The recorder will switch from DRIVING mode to PARKING mode (OBD cable will turn off the ACC voltage/ignition in the DC-IN socket supplying the recorder):

• if the voltage in the vehicle installation is below 13.6V (engine off) and no movement of the vehicle (vibration from traffic) is detected for more than 10 minutes.

The cable can temporarily (for 10 minutes) switch parking mode to driving mode if vehicle shocks are detected during standstill.

• Purpose: to continuously power all models of FineVu video recorders without the need to constantly connect wires to the vehicle installation.

ATTENTION! – The OBD plug power cable is not a 1:1 replacement for the original 3-wire cable supplying the recorder from the fuse box, which comes with the recorder. Parking mode in DVRs powered by OBD cable activates after approx. 10 minutes after completing the ride and leaving the vehicle (no shocks detected). When powering the recorder with a 3-wire cable connected to the fuse box, the parking mode activation takes 30 seconds from turning off the ignition.
