Dynamic visual effects take production to a new level

The REQ12 series is one of the first 1-chip DLP™ projectors to feature Quad Pixel Drive, our 2-axis pixelquadrupling technology that delivers deep, smooth and detailed 4K images. It supports 240Hz projection and works with optional real-time projection tracking system. Enhanced dynamic contrast features new scene recognition layouts that stand out significantly between black, white, and contrasting colors and bring the content presented to life.

Hassle-free operation, increased expandability

The REQ12 series responds to the demand for complex productions with enhanced features, interfaces and options that streamline the workflow. The new lens line improves native contrast, adds assisted peripheral sharpness, and expands the lens change range. The Intel® SDM slot integrates its own or external function cards to customize and scale connectivity. You can import custom test patterns, use NFC features to prepare for a network connection without power, and save time with pre-activated update kits for Geo Pro software.

New design for maintenance-free operation

The REQ12 series are the first single-chip DLP™ projectors to feature a hermetically sealed optical block with liquid cooling, allowing for 20 000 hours of maintenance-free projection. To prevent interruptions, Backup Input11 switches to a secondary signal without extinguishing the screen when the main signal is disrupted, while Multi Laser Drive Engine prevents loss of brightness in the unlikely event of a diode failure.

Rich color enhancer for vibrant and accurate colors

Rich Color Enhancer is an original color optimization technology with two modes to choose from. Dynamic mode balances brightness and colors for clear images in bright environments. Standard mode optimizes color reproduction by extending the output of the red channel, leading to more naturally vivid red expression. This is crucial for accurate reproduction of artwork and other color-rich content in digital museums, art galleries, and other educational facilities.

Improved dynamic contrast [NEW]

In addition to a higher contrast ratio of 25 000:1, Evolved Dynamic Contrast has a new scene analysis layout where it accurately recognizes light and dark areas of the image. The difference between black, white and contrasting colors is more noticeable than ever before. This technology also minimizes the dimming of images, which consist of contrast information and makes black deeper and white brighter. Each video frame is analyzed in real time, and the light output is constantly adjusted to meet the precise contrast requirements of each scene, even as bright and dark images change quickly.

Adjusting Black Levels on Curved Screens [NEW]

Getting a uniform level of black inside mixed areas on curved screens using conventional adjustment has always been difficult. This is because the curvature of the screen distorts the width of the black frames that define the black level adjustment area. Panasonic solves this problem through advanced adjustment to fit any screen shape. You can use up to 17 checkpoints to change the shape of black frames to fit the screen symmetrically without distortion, allowing you to set black levels to an accuracy of 0,5 pixels, which is ideal for 4K content.

Adjustable black levels inside and outside the image display area [NEW]

Panasonic black level adjustment has been developed to eliminate the distracting black level inequalities that may appear in mixtures outside the image display area after applying geometric adjustment. By disconnecting the black level codification from the geometric adjustment, the black format settings can be applied to the entire mix, including overlapping illustrations outside the display area to produce a completely smooth image across multiple screens.

Note: Setting the black level area must be done before adjusting the black format. The ability to disconnect the black level adjustment from the geometric adjustment is only supported on flat screens when adjacent images are aligned vertically or horizontally.

Smooth content playback 2K/240 Hz

The projector is capable of seamlessly playing 240Hz/1080p video content with a minimum I/O latency of just 6ms, which is ideal for immersive experiences or applications such as eSports events and interactive XR attractions where fast response and smooth movement are important. The REQ12 series works with Panasonic’s optional ET-SWR102 real-time projection tracking system – ready for use with the Software Development Kit (SDK), which works with infrared cameras, enabling projection on fast-moving objects at speeds up to 240 fps. /s, making it easy to add realistic interactivity to FECs, museums, or other attractions.

The 2 ET-SWR10 can be used in conjunction with third-party devices (which are sold separately). Compatibility with third-party devices cannot be guaranteed. Other restrictions apply as well. More information can be found on the ET-SWR10 website.

Support for widescreen input signals [NEW]

Single-chip DLP™ projectors are increasingly being chosen because they are great for connecting local teams and fully remote or hybrid conference spaces. The latest video conferencing software chips can send a 21:9 (2560 x 1080) signal to the REQ12 series projector, so that the faces of remote participants are displayed along the bottom of the screen at the eye level of people sitting in the room. This improves the fluidity of communication between group members. In addition, for games, movies, documentaries and other immersive content produced in the 21:9 format, it is worth investing in a projector that will provide a cinematic experience as intended by the creators.

Hassle-free operation, increased expandability

Works with a completely new line of lenses [NEW]

The REQ12 series works with an all-new range of optional fixed focal length, zoom and ultra-short focal length lenses for select Panasonic 1-Chip DLP™ projectors, enabling you to deliver immersive indoor experiences of any size and shape. Lenses that improve native contrast by up to 16%1 while reducing unwanted chromatic aberration extend the range of lens offset adjustment compared to previous lenses. The lenses are equipped with lens memory and automatic identification functions, and now also offer powered peripheral focus2 with the ability to operate via remote control or Smart Projector Control3 application.

Wide scalability with Intel® SDM-ready socket [NEW]

The Intel® SDM-ready slot integrates optional function cards from your own or third-party manufacturers. These function cards reduce installation complexity and make it easy to customize, scale, and extend projector connectivity to different applications and infrastructure at the event site. The projector works with the DIGITAL LINK terminal card (TY-SB01DL), 12G-SDI terminal board (TY-SB01QS) and PressIT Wireless Presentation System receiver board (TY-SB01WP), as well as selected third-party 1 PC cards, terminals and AVoIP boards.

Importing and saving custom test patterns [NEW]

In addition to the 10 built-in test patterns, you can also import and save up to three custom test patterns in the projector. Preferred text patterns can be saved or used client content to calibrate the projector before connecting the video source. Access compatible BMP or PNG image files stored in a USB stick using the "Test Pattern" menu, where you can save them, rename them, or remove them using the projector remote control.

Quickly find the right projection angle [NEW]

One of the advantages of laser projectors is their flexibility in mapping images on floors, walls, compacted surfaces and 3D objects to create an immersive environment. However, adjusting the projector angle to the location specified in the spatial design simulation can be laborious and time-consuming if the projector is difficult to access. The REQ12 series is equipped with a new gyroscopic sensor that detects body inclination and tilt and displays graphics on the screen showing the projector’s angle of inclination. Instead of working blindly through trial and error, installers can refer to this data and adjust the angle of the projector accordingly before the device is finally secured at its destination.

Note: The accuracy of the measurement varies depending on the size of the stroke and tilt used and whether the device is angled in one or both directions.

New design for maintenance-free operation

Remote Preview LITE for monitoring during events

Remote Preview LITE allows the projector to confirm the integrity of the video signal and make adjustments to the displayed image by simply viewing thumbnails of the input signal on the laptop before projection. Access via software or a web browser, Remote Preview LITE works with the projector in standby mode 1 or with the shutter on. This is useful during events such as concerts, where the possibilities of checking the content on the screen are limited due to movement on the stage, sound rehearsals, sunlight falling on the screen and other logistical factors. Remote Preview LITE reduces the risk of errors.

Note: Requires Multi-Monitoring & Control software version 3.2 or later

1 The projector must be in Pre-Show mode.

Hermetic optical motor and liquid cooling system [NEW]

The REQ12 series is equipped with an IP5X Dust Protect hermetic optical motor, eliminating the need for an air filter and enabling 20 000 hours of 1 maintenance-free projection. Reliability has been confirmed by accelerated tests in the dust chamber under much dustier conditions than those in which some competitors’ products are tested. The newly improved liquid cooling system enables continuous operation in warm, dusty environments with much lower noise levels than the previous series, so it is ideal for quiet spaces such as museums. In addition, the new stylish design of the case discreetly blends into the space to minimize interference.

1 Around this time, the luminous flux will decrease by about 50%. IEC62087:2008 Broadcast Contents, NORMAL mode, dynamic contrast [3], temperature 35 °C (95 °F), height 700 m (2,297 ft) with 0.15 mg/m 3 airborne particulate matter. The estimated time to drop the luminous flux to 50% varies depending on the environment.

Redundancy of backup input

Two identical signals can be transmitted simultaneously to HDMI 1 (basic) and HDMI 2 (spare). If the transmission to the primary input is interrupted, the projector will automatically switch to a backup in at least 0,3 seconds1 without the screen going out. This layer of security provides more peace of mind during events where the display of the image cannot be interrupted.

Note: Terminal assignment Basic input (HDMI 1) and Backup input (HDMI 2) are fixed. The input signals for primary and backup inputs must be identical.

1 Depends on the mode of backup and the connected external device.

Highly reliable multi-laser drive motor

Many laser modules are equipped with our unique Failover Circuitry technology. In the unlikely event of a single diode failure, the Circuitry failover continues to supply electricity to the functional diodes in the series, minimizing loss of brightness. If the same problem occurs in projectors without failover circuits, all diodes in the module can turn off, causing a significant loss of brightness.
