How it Works

Nematodes enter the pest and release symbiotic bacteria into its body. These bacteria turn the host's tissue into a food source where the nematodes develop and reproduce. After being attacked, the pest dies within hours or days.

Visual Effect

Infested root-zone pests turn red or brown but may be hard to find due to rapid decomposition.

Preparation

✅ Remove sachets from the box and leave at room temperature for 30 minutes.

✅ Pour the contents of the sachets into a bucket containing at least 0.4 liters of water per sachet (water temperature: 15-20°C/59-68°F).

✅ Mix well and wait 5 minutes for the product to soak.

✅ Mix again and pour the contents into a half-filled sprayer tank (except for tank mixes with a compatible product).

✅ Continuously mix the solution in the tank (e.g., using a recirculation pump).

✅ Fill the sprayer tank with the appropriate amount of water.

✅ For a tank mix with a compatible product, add Larvanem at the end, to a completely filled tank.

✅ Use immediately after preparing the spray solution.

Application

☑️ Nematodes can be applied using a watering can, sprayer, sprinkler, backpack sprayers, and vehicle-mounted sprayers.

☑️ To prevent clogging, remove all filters, especially if they are smaller than 0.3 mm (50 mesh).

☑️ For nozzles, the working pressure must not exceed 20 bar/290 psi.

☑️ Use nozzles with a minimum diameter of 0.5 mm (500 microns – 35 mesh). High-flow cone spray nozzles are preferred.

☑️ Keep the solution agitated at all times to prevent nematodes from settling at the bottom of the sprayer tank.

☑️ Avoid sprayers equipped with centrifugal or piston pumps.

☑️ The water temperature in the tank must not exceed 25°C/77°F, and the pH must be between 4 and 8.

☑️ Evenly spray the soil/substrate surface with the solution.

Application in Irrigation Systems:

✔️ It is recommended to use irrigation systems with pressure compensation. If this is not available, spraying or sprinkling is recommended. If using a Dosatron/Venturi system, contact your local representative for specific advice.

✔️ Use the solution immediately after preparation. Storing the mixed solution is not recommended.

Dosage

Larvanem should be used at a dose of 250 000 to 500 000 nematodes per m² (2,5 to 5 billion nematodes per hectare).

Duration of use

The time and frequency of use depend on the species of pest and the growing environment – relative humidity, soil moisture and temperature.

Environmental conditions

✳ Heterorhabditis bacteriophora is active at temperatures 16 to 35°C/61 to 95°F, but functions optimally at temperatures 19 to 33°C/66 to 91°F.

✳ Soil temperatures below 5°C/41°F or above 35°C/95°F can be fatal to nematodes.

✳ Ultraviolet (UV) radiation is harmful to nematodes, so they should not be distributed in direct sunlight.

✳ A few days after application, soil moisture must be maintained at a high level. If possible, the crop should be rehydrated before and immediately after application.

✳ Adding an adjuvant or moisture-retaining/drying agent can bring additional benefits. Ask your Koppert representative/distributor for more information.

✳ Spray in the evening (or in some cases in the morning), allowing the nematodes to work for several hours at optimal temperature and humidity, in accordance with the above guidelines.
