How DuraShock Technology Works

In the traditional design of an aneroid blood pressure monitor, several delicate gears and springs transform and amplify the vertical movement of the sprocket into a rotational movement to rotate the hand. The DuraShock gearless design uses a single screw spring to directly convert the vertical movement of the sprocket into an indicator rotation without the use of a multi-stage gear system. Thanks to the creation of a gearless design, Welch Allyn Durashock has fewer moving parts, which provides a shock-resistant indicator and lighter than traditional indicators. Until now, the dropped blood pressure monitor required recalibration or replacement. DuraShock can fall from a height of 76 cm to a hard surface and still maintain accuracy. This is the only indicator that meets the AAMI shock resistance specification.
