Ubiquinol or ubiquinone?

Coenzyme Q10 plays a key role in energy production in human cells. In order for us to function, we need two forms of it.

Ubiquinone and ubiquinol are two forms of the same compound – coenzyme Q10. Ubiquinone is an oxidized form, and ubiquinol is a reduced form. Both of these forms are equivalent, both reduced and oxidized form pass into each other during the transformations they undergo in the body.

Ubiquinone(Uboquinone) is an oxidized form, i.e. one that binds an oxygen molecule together and plays a fundamental role in the energy metabolism of the cell. If we want to be more precise, ubiquinone plays a key role in the synthesis of ATP.
