Betaina HCL from NOW Foods is a high-quality supplement that supports digestive processes and ensures a proper environment in the stomach.
Betaina, or trimethylglycine (TMG), is an organic chemical compound. It is a derivative of glycine – the simplest protein amino acid, belonging to the group of standard protein amino acids. It is necessary to transform homocysteine and maintain its proper level in the body. It is also particularly important for the proper synthesis of DNA and RNA, which are essential for the production of healthy cells. In the stomach, the action of betaine resembles that of hydrochloric acid (HCL).
Halic acid (HCl) is usually produced in the stomach, where by activating pepsin it supports protein digestion. It helps maintain a healthy balance of intestinal flora and stimulates the release of intestinal enzymes. Pepsin is a protease produced in the stomach that partially breaks down proteins contained in food. The production of HCl tends to decrease with age, therefore, to maintain the proper functioning of the digestive tract, its supplementation is recommended.
