Description

Vitamin D3 helps in the proper absorption and use of calcium and phosphorus, in maintaining normal levels of calcium in the blood, in maintaining healthy bones and teeth, in the proper functioning of muscles and the immune system, participates in the process of cell division.

Vitamin D3 is involved in metabolic processes, its deficiency adversely affects health. The task - the most important - of vitamin D3 in the human body is to take care of the appropriate level of bone and tooth mineralization and control the metabolism of calcium and phosphorus. Vitamin D3 is a fat-soluble vitamin and is therefore stored in the body.

Vitamin D3 regulates calcium-phosphorus metabolism, its deficiency may contribute to the development of musculoskeletal problems, including osteoporosis, osteomalacia and rickets. Osteoporosis due to hormonal changes is especially exposed to women in menopause. Without vitamin D3, children as young as two months of age can develop rickets, leading to serious developmental disorders. The body can produce vitamin D3 on its own, provided that the skin is affected by a sufficient dose of sunlight (between 10.00 and 14.00, from May to September in Poland), and this is not available in the modern world. About 80% of Poles have vitamin D3 deficiency, and many have severe deficiencies.

There are two forms of vitamin D: D2 (ergocalciferol),vegan vitamin D, plant origin, found in the largest amount in yeast and vegetables,This form of vitamin D is poorly absorbed;D3 (cholecalciferol), animal origin, found in the largest amount in the grass,sea fish, liver, eggs, dairy products, the highest concentration of vitamin D3 occurs on sheep hair and is hence obtained for dietary supplements (cholecalciferol from lanolin).
