Action
The collagen complex includes: type II collagen, hyaluronic acid (HA), chondroitin and glucosamine. Collagen molecules form a kind of network, which is the backbone for proteoglycans (e.g. chondroitin) - a type of sponge filled with hyaluronic acid A properly shaped, elastic structure of the network has high resistance to mechanical factors. This is especially important in the case of the elderly and those exposed to joint overload (eg. overweight).
Type II collagen - unlike other types of collagen - found in other tissues - contains significant amounts of proline and glycine, which are responsible for the structure and strength of collagen.
Chondroitin and glucosamine are part of the network structures and thus support their proper construction.
Hyaluronic acid (HA) is the most important component of the synovial fluid in the joints due to its water-binding and sliding properties.
Collagen, HA, glucosamine and chondroitin are better absorbed together than individually.
