The resin obtained from the bark of frankincense after purification is used as a medicinal raw material. The active ingredients found in frankincense resin – boswellic acids – have anti-inflammatory effect. For this reason, in traditional Indian medicine, this plant is used to treat diseases of the joints, bones, spine, digestive tract, as well as the respiratory tract and allergies.

First of all, it is an effective remedy for inflammation of bones and joints. The pain-relieving properties of boswellia are also used in the incurable disease of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). The conducted research confirmed that frankincense extract significantly improves mobility when bending joints, reduces swelling and protects against cartilage loss caused by inflammation.
