What is mountain rosary
Rhodiola rosea is a perennial found mainly in northern and central Asia, but also in the mountainous regions of Europe and subarctic areas of North America. In our country, it occurs naturally in the crevices of limestone rocks of the Sudetes and Carpathians. The name rosary refers to the characteristic rose scent of the rhizome and the pink coloration appearing inside, after breaking it.
Rhodiola rosea extract is a source of many active substances that positively affect the functioning of the body, among which cinnamon alcohol derivatives known collectively as rosavin and belonging to the phenolic compounds salidrozide are considered the most important. In addition, Rhodiola rosea extract is also a treasure trove of other substances beneficial for the body: mono- and triterpenes, flavonoids, essential oils or polyphenols – such as gallic and chlorogenic acids.
How does mountain rosary work?
Rhodiola rosea is classified as adaptogens, i.e. a group of plant-derived agents that increase resistance to stress and maintain the balance of the body. Like other adaptogens, it increases the body’s resistance to stressors, supporting the nervous and immune systems. In addition, it helps maintain the proper functioning of the circulatory system, thus providing cells with the right amount of oxygen and nutrients. The health-promoting effect of Rhodiola rosea was noticed thousands of years ago in China, where the plant is used successfully in traditional medicine. Traces of the use of this plant can also be found among the ancient Greeks and Romans and Scandinavian Vikings.
What standardization and origin of the extract?
To ensure that the product has been produced on the basis of a high-quality extract and derived from the right botanical source, attention should be paid to both the standardization of the extract and the ratio of rosavin to salidroside content. A characteristic feature of the species Rhodiola rosea is the ratio of rosavin to salidroside equal to 3:1. Products that have a different ratio of the content of these two substances, or those in which standardization is given only for one of the compounds, may contain a poor quality extract obtained from other plant species belonging to the genus Rhodiola, and not from the mountain rosary, or Rhodiola rosea.
The extract contained in our product was produced in Russia from plants belonging exclusively to the species Rhodiola rosea, growing in the pristine and unpolluted region of the Altai Mountains. It is therefore characterized by an appropriate ratio of rosavin to salidroside of 3:1 and a high double standardization of 3% rosavin and 1% salidroside.
