METHYLO FOLIAN 600 µg by ALINESS is a natural source of folate in the patented form of Quaterfolic®.
The consumption of folate in the diet is often insufficient. The reason is that natural folates are susceptible to oxidation, rapidly lose activity in food and are largely, up to 90%, destroyed by cooking. In addition, they are characterized by low and incomplete bioavailability.
Most of the folate you take comes from an artificial version of folic acid in supplements and added to foods. Synthetic folic acid is inactive and must be metabolized in the body to 5-methyltetrahydrofolate (5-MTHF) to become metabolically effective.
Today, we know that folic acid undergoes complex metabolism and that people taking folic acid may still have severe folate deficiency due to large differences in how effectively folic acid is converted into a bioactive form in different people.
The high solubility of Quatrefolic® in water means that it can be better absorbed by mucosal cells that facilitate access to blood and circulation, with the possibility of improving bioavailability.
Due to the fact that Quatrefolic® contains a metabolically reduced form of folate, used and stored in the human body, it is completely bioavailable, exhibits extraordinary, long-term chemical stability.
QUATERFOLIC® IS THE ACTIVE, NATURAL AND MOST BIOAVAILABLE FORM OF FOLATE
Pregnancy / lactation:
Increased demand for folate occurs during very active growth of body cells, such as during pregnancy and lactation. . Quatrefolic® as a source of (6S)-5-methyltetrahydrofolate (5-MTHF) may be particularly useful in providing a nutritionally active form of folate in the period before conception, during pregnancy and lactation. Folate concentrations in breast milk are maintained at the expense of its reserves in the mother's body. A nursing woman needs 128 μg per day of additional folate to replenish her losses. 5-MTHF has been shown to be effective and perhaps more effective than folic acid in maintaining folate concentrations in erythrocytes during lactation.
Infants and children:
Folate is a critical nutrient when cell growth in the body is very active and folate deficiency can slow down overall growth. It helps in the proper functioning of the immune system.
Adults:
Folate is involved in the production of key neurotransmitters in the brain, and its absence may contribute to disorders of psychological functions. Folate is a cofactor in many important biological reactions, and its deficiency can occur at all stages of life. Folate supplementation can improve quality of life by reducing fatigue and fatigue
Elderly people:
Folate deficiency occurs in approx. 30% of the older population. Folate supplementation is important in older people because with age, the level of homocysteine in the blood rises and its metabolism depends on folate. As part of the aging process, numerous physical and physiological changes occur. Aging is associated with changes in the functioning of the gastrointestinal tract, which may possibly affect the absorption of various forms of folate. Supplementation of folate with high bioavailability, especially in this age group, allows you to support proper psychological functions such as concentration, memory and learning.
- help in the proper production of blood
- help maintain normal homocysteine metabolism
- help maintain normal psychological functions
- contribute to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue
- help in the proper functioning of the immune system
- participate in the process of cell division
- help in the proper synthesis of amino acids
Most of the folate you take comes from the synthetic version of folic acid in supplements and added to foods
Today we know that folic acid undergoes complex metabolism and that among the population there are differences in the ability to effectively metabolize folic acid into its bioactive form (1,2).
Folates in food are hydrolyzed to a form of monoglutamate in the intestine before being absorbed by active transport through the intestinal mucosa. Therefore, before entering the bloodstream, the form of monoglutamate is reduced to tetrahydrofolate (THF) and converted into methyl forms.
On the other hand, folic acid is first reduced to dihydrofolate by the enzyme dehydrofolate reductase (DHFR), and then to tetrahydrofolate. In humans, the gut appears to have very high ability to convert reduced folates from food into 5-MTHF, but limited ability to reduce folic acid. In fact, it reaches the liver in an unmetabolized form.
Quatrefolic®, a highly bioavailable form of folate, may be the best choice when it comes to supplementing with active folate to support and regulate the methylation cycle. (7,8).
Quaterfolic® -NATURAL SOURCE OF FOLIC ACID, ACTIVE FORM OF FOLATE
Quatrefolic® passes through the stomach barrier and is absorbed mainly in the small intestine through the carrier mechanism.
The biotransformation of folic acid to 5-MTHF in the liver is regulated by two polymorphic enzymes, DHFR and MTHFR. DHFR activity appears to be low and highly variable. Chronic exposure of the liver to folic acid can cause saturation with this component, which can cause systemic circulation of unmetabolized folic acid. In addition, some people experience genetic changes that reduce DHFR activity.
A new study published in 2014 clearly indicated that 86% of folic acid in the hepatic portal vein is unmetabolized, with almost all of the natural folate being converted correctly (3,4). .
Quaterfolic® - BIOAVAILABILITY
The oral bioavailability of the active ingredient is highly dependent on its solubility. Absorption of the compound occurs after dispersion and dissolution in the fluid in the intestines.
What does solubility mean?
High water solubility means Quatrefolic® can be better absorbed by mucosal cells that facilitate access to blood and circulation.
High water solubility means that Quatrefolic® can be easily absorbed by mucosal cells that facilitate access to blood and circulation, with the ability to improve the bioavailability of this chemical form of folate.
The extremely high solubility of Quatrefolic® in water is due to two specific characteristics of the component: the glucosamine-forming agent and the amorphous chemical structure of the product
The amorphous state provides inseparably related solubility, guaranteeing a homogeneous and reproducible dissolution process, while the crystalline alternative cannot provide this.
Quaterfolic® -STABILITY
Quatrefolic® exhibits extraordinary, long-term chemical stability guaranteeing completely unchanged purity even after a few months, and reduction from analysis within 18 months less than 1%, which allows easy application and storage. The pH value of Quatrefolic after reconstitution is neutral. This value also provides higher stability to the molecule, protecting it from hydrolytic degradation.
The stability of Quatrefolic® powder has been tested in accordance with the ICH (International Council for the Harmonisation of Technical Requirements for the Registration of Medicinal Products for Human Use) guidelines both at room temperature and under other storage conditions for samples in airtight containers protecting against light, and with the measurement of purity and result at different points.
Medicaline has deliberately decided to conduct Quatrefolic® stability tests in accordance with the strictest guidelines, required specifically for pharmaceutical ingredients, guaranteeing independent and reliable criteria in order to make a statement of long-term chemical stability before starting the promotion of the product to its customers.
The lyophilised component can be used without special and restrictive conditions, easily combined with other ingredients and reagents, and can be stored at room temperature instead of at 2 to 8°C, like other folate derivatives
