What is gotu kola?

Gotu kola is a plant raw material obtained from Asian thread – a plant commonly found in Central Asia. The extract in threads is a source of many biologically active substances that have a beneficial effect on the body, such as triterpene saponins – among them asiaticosides, bioflavonoids and plant sterols.

How does gotu kola work?

Gotu kola belongs to adaptogens, i.e. a group of plant-based agents that increase resistance to stress and maintain the balance of the body. Like other adaptogens, it has a positive effect on the body and improves its functioning in many areas, but among them the positive effect on the nervous system deserves special attention. Gotu kola will work as a procognitive agent, effectively improving memory and concentration, as well as helping to reduce anxiety in stressful situations. Its action is so effective that it was noticed and appreciated hundreds of years ago, which is why this plant has already found application in Old Indian Ayurvedic medicine, as well as in traditional Chinese medicine.

What standardization and origin of the extract?

When choosing a product containing gotu kola, it is worth paying attention to standardization, i.e. the power of the extract. Supplement manufacturers often do not provide standardization of the extracts they use or base their products not on an extract, but on dried, powdered plant material, having a much lower content of active ingredients. The extract contained in our product comes from a reputable Indian manufacturer, Akay, and is characterized by high standardization for asiaticosides of 20% and triterpene saponins of 30%. This means that every 100mg of extract contained in our product contains as much as 20 mg of asiaticosides, which is the most active variety of saponin triterpenes characteristic of the Asian thread.
