2. Does Yestimun® Beta-Glucan contain additives?

Yestimun® Beta-Glucan is an all-natural and pure ingredient without any additives. It consists exclusively of brewer's yeast (100% Saccharomyces cerevisiae).

3. Is Yestimun® Beta-Glucan GMP certified?

We do not have GMP certificate. However, we are very strict about the microbiological composition. We also analyze each batch for heavy metals.

4. Is Yestimun® Beta-Glucan safe?

Yestimun® Beta-Glucan is safe. It belongs to the food category because it is made from pure natural brewer's yeast. Safety has also been demonstrated in clinical studies on the efficacy of Yestimun® Beta-Glucan. The ingredient can be consumed daily without any negative side effects [Auinger et al. (2013), Eur J Nutr Vol 52, ed. 8, pp. 1913-1918].

5. Does Yestimun® Beta-Glucan have any side effects?

Clinical studies have shown that taking Yestimun® does not cause any side effects. All study participants identified the ingredient tolerance as “very good” or “good” [Auinger et al. (2013), Eur J Nutr Vol 52, Issue 8, pp. 19131918].

6. What are the functions of Yestimun® Beta-Glucan? How does the preparation work?

The yeast cell itself is coated with a layer of mannooligosaccharides (MOS). In the production process, this layer is carefully removed so that the immune cells of the intestine can recognize the three-dimensional matrix of beta-glucans. The immune system depends 70% on the gut. The special structure of β-1,3-1,6-glucan is recognized by cells in the small intestine, just like the pathogen. There is a functional, rapid and non-specific immune response that activates macrophages in peyer tufts. Macrophages begin to destroy pathogens or activate other defense cells (B and T lymphocytes, dendritic cells)[Stier et al. (2014), Nutr J 13:38, p.2 ff. / Chan et al. (2009), J Hematol Oncol 2:25 / Volman et al. (2008), Physiol Behav 94:276-284].

7. What is the recommended daily dose (for adults)?

No studies have yet been conducted to determine the appropriate dose. The aim of the research we conducted was to obtain a health claim (about 2 x 450 mg/day).

8. What is the recommended daily dose for children?

For children, the daily dose may be lower than for adults. We have not conducted a clinical trial in children, but scientific analyses show that 7 mg/kg body weight gives reliable results.

9. What time should I take Yestimun® Beta-Gl ucan?

Yestimun® can be taken at any time of the day. A good solution is to take the preparation regularly at the same time - so you can avoid missing a dose. Clinical trial participants took one capsule (450 mg) twice a day, e.g. for breakfast and dinner [Graubaum et al. (2012), FNS 3, 738–746 / Auinger et al. (2013), Eur J Nutr Vol 52, ed. 8, pp. 1913-1918].

10. Should Yestimun® Beta-Glucan be taken before, after or during a meal?

There are various theories on this issue. Sometimes it is recommended to take beta-glucans for some time before eating, so that the structure of the molecule is better recognized when passing through the digestive tract without interference from other molecules. Our clinical studies have shown that effects also occur when the preparation is taken with a meal - not necessarily between or after meals. The preparation will be effective as an ingredient in dietary supplements and functional foods [Graubaum et al. (2012), FNS 3, 738–746 / Auinger et al. (2013), Eur J Nutr Vol 52, ed. 8, pp. 1913-1918].

11. Can Yestimun® Beta-Glucan be dissolved in liquids? Is the preparation soluble?

Yestimun® Beta-Glucan is used to make a suspension but is not soluble. Thanks to this, it can be added liquid preparations, such as drinks or syrups, drinks, shakes.

12. What about Yestimun® Beta-Glucan?

The purity of our beta-glucan is at least 85%. The production process includes various washing steps that are designed to obtain a pure beta-glucan structure and remove other ingredients such as mannooligosaccharides, fat and proteins.

13. Is Yestimun® Beta-Glucan suitable for vegans and/or vegetarians?

Yestimun® Beta-Glucan is suitable for vegans and vegetarians. It consists exclusively of brewer's yeast (100% Saccharomyces cerevisiae).

14. What is the vitamin content of Yestimun® Beta-Glucan?

We conducted an analysis of the vitamins contained in yeast from our native brewers, because it is a rich source of natural vitamins. Yestimun® Beta-Glucan is made from brewer’s yeast by a separation process that consists of at least three stages: Autolysis, then separation, first washing under slightly alkaline conditions at boiling point, then separation, second washing under inert conditions at boiling point, and then separation. During these processes, all soluble substances (sugars, proteins, fat) are washed out, so we can assume that due to the long boiling time, most vitamins are washed out or deactivated.

15. Can Yestimun® Beta-Glucan cause allergies?

Yestimun® Beta-Glucan is made from brewer’s yeast. Yeast proteins can cause allergic reactions. In the production process, almost all proteins are removed, so that only pure beta-glucan remains. Although beta-glucans are derived from brewer’s yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae), they are pure isolate and do not contain the amount of yeast proteins that could trigger an allergic reaction.

16. Does Yestimun® Beta-Glucan contain gluten?

Yestimun® Beta-Glucan was tested for gluten content and no trace was found. This is due to the combination of enzymatic and alkaline hydrolysis and several washing steps during the production process.

Brewing yeast is grown on a wort derived from barley. For brewer’s yeast, the level of 200 ppm and above is usually used. Gluten is a protein complex based on several amino acids. During enzymatic autolysis (first stage), most gluten is hydrolyzed and individual amino acids do not cause an allergic reaction. Then the cell wall is subjected to caustic treatment. Hydrolysis and washing of proteins, fats and mannooligosaccharides occurs. The final stage is rinsing, which eventually removes the remaining fat, mannose and amino acids. Yestimun® Beta-Glucan becomes highly purified glucan.

We have our own gluten analysis equipment, set to a maximum of 20 ppm of gluten. All results of the analysis showed that Yestimun® Beta-Glucan does not contain gluten.

17. Is there a health claim regarding Yestimun® Beta-Glucan?

Unfortunately, there are no official health claims yet regarding Yestimun® Beta-Glucan. Although all clinical outcomes were positive, EFSA (European Agency for Human Rights) Food) invalidated the possibility of official communication about the properties of beta glucans. However, it has been proven in clinical trials that Yestimun® Beta-Glucan has a positive effect on the immune system [Graubaum et al. (2012), FNS 3, 738–746 / Auinger et al. (2013), Eur J Nutr Vol 52, Issue 8, pp. 1913-1918].

18. Is Yestimun® Beta-Glucan stable in acidic environments?

Yestimun® Beta-Glucan has been tested at various pH and temperature levels. The results showed that there are no changes in the structure of the component. It is also stable in acidic environments and can be added e.g. for acidic beverages.

19. Is beta-glucan able to survive in the acidic environment of the stomach?

Beta-glucan is able to survive in stomach acid. Our study showed that Yestimun® Beta-Glucan is really acid resistant. Therefore, the entire molecule can pass through the stomach and reach the intestine, where it is recognized by receptor cells [Rahar et al. (2011), J Adv Pharm Technol Res, Apr-Jun; 2(2): 94-103].

20. How to store Yestimun® Beta-Glucan correctly?

Yestimun® Beta-Glucan must be stored in a closed container, in a dry and cool place protected from light. Once opened, the box should be tightly and tightly closed so that the product retains its quality.

21. What is the difference between yeast-derived beta-glucan and oat-derived beta-glucan?

Yeast and oat beta-glucan belong to the group of fibers, but they have a different structure and a completely different function. Oat beta-glucan has a connection type of β-1,3-1,4, while yeast beta-glucan has a connection type of 1,3-1,6-β-D-glucan. The following numbers show different types of connections.

22. What is the difference between brewer’s yeast and baker’s yeast?

In breweries, brewer’s yeast grows on naturally malted grains. These grains contain all the vitamins and microelements needed for yeast growth. Unlike baking yeast, no additional aggregates are needed here. Brewing yeast requires a long ripening time, during which it absorbs and accumulates additional minerals and vitamins from the grain.
