VITAMIN D IN THE BODY

Man has the ability to produce vitamin D in the skin under the influence of solar UVB radiation. It is estimated that approx. 90% of vitamin D comes from skin synthesis, the remaining 10% from food.

Epidemiological studies show that due to the geographical location and climate of Polish over 90% of the population of our country has a vitamin D deficit. 1

Therefore, from October to March, vitamin D supplementation is recommended, in accordance with the guidelines established for Central Europe, assuming that the optimal concentration of vitamin D, measured by the determination of the concentration of 25-hydroxycholecalciferol, should be 30-50 ng/mL

(75-125 nmol/L)2
