JVC DLA-S2200 is the youngest child of the JVC Reference Series. The projector has been completely redesigned to become the smallest 4K projector in the world. The DLA-RS2200 is brighter than its cheaper brother (a laser light source with a brightness of 2300 lumens) and has twice the native contrast of 80000:1. It also has a cinema filter (wider color palette) and improved 4K panels with better control of liquid crystal alignment and better pixel flatness. The projector has the latest HDMI 2.1 HDCP 2.3 connectors and improved dynamic HDR Gen2 Frame Adapt tone mapping.
All components redesigned
The optical system, lens and motherboard are designed to be the world’s smallest projector with native 4K resolution
Significant reduction in projector size
DLA-RS2200/RS1200 projectors are 35% smaller than previous DLA-RS2100 models, while maintaining a laser light source and native 4K D-ILA panels
Redesign of projector inlet and outlet
Placing the heat source outlet on the back eliminated the potential impact of the image on the projection screen. This provides greater installation flexibility.
Environmental issues
The design of the new projector models uses much less plastic, which also reduces transport costs. This leads to a product that is much more environmentally friendly.
Laser light source - long service life and improved energy efficiency
The new JVC Reference Series projectors use the third generation of BLU-Escent technology – a laser-phosphorus light source with a laser diode lifespan of 20000 hours. The light module uses blue laser diodes with yellow phosphor wheel and provides 2000 lumens.
Blu-Escent laser
In the latest models, the energy efficiency measured as the ratio of brightness per unit Watt has been improved, which is almost twice the efficiency of the first model equipped with a BLU-Escent laser (FOR-Z1 had 3000 lumens at 750W power consumption)
Brightness control in 101 steps
The BLU-Escent laser can precisely adjust the luminance depending on the environment and preferences, using the control of the light source with a slider. A total of 101 (0 to 100) luminance control degrees are available, which can be used to precisely adjust the target luminance in the environment and on the screen.
Third Generation D-ILA 4K Technology - Upgrade
The JVC DLA-RS2200 projectors feature native 4K resolution that delivers incredibly sharp images. They are so detailed and smooth that it is hard to believe your eyes. The heart of the projectors are 3 D-ILA panels, which are the best image display technology among all currently available on the market. JVCKenwood is constantly working on improving it. The third generation of 0,69-inch D-ILA panels improved liquid crystal alignment control and increased image pixel flatness, offering a 1,25 times higher native contrast ratio compared to second-generation panels. In addition, improvements in the panel production process resulted in improved image uniformity on the screen and increased image quality.
D-ILA technology provides visuals and image depth unparalleled by competitors.
HDMI 2.1 HDCP 2.3 with support 4K@60Hz
The JVC DLA-R1200 projector is equipped with 2 HDMI inputs in the latest 2.1 standard with HDCP 2.3 capable of displaying images with 32Gbps bandwidth. In practice, this means the ability to play 4K HDR content at 60 frames per second.
High quality lens DLA-RS1200/DLA-RS2200
The JVC DLA-R1200 projector is equipped with a completely redesigned 4K lens. The 80-millimeter lens consists of fifteen elements in 11 groups. This allows you to achieve high-quality extremely sharp 4K images across the entire screen surface.
Multi Pixel Control algorithm to improve image sharpness
To further improve 8K material reproduction, JVC used sampling of each pixel from a 4K signal to deliver smooth, faithfully rendered images. The MPC algorithm supports full 8K signal in 60 frames and 4K signal in 120 frames (4:4:4).
High natural and dynamic contrast
The D-ILA 4K panel and optical system provide natural contrast higher than 80,000:1. In the latest projectors, pixel alignment and flatness control have been improved at the same time. In addition, combined with the dynamic control of the BLU-Escent light source, the projectors achieve astounding dynamic contrast (10x more than static contrast).
Brightness 2000 lumens
The new D-ILA JVC DLA-RS2200 projector achieves a brightness of 2300 lumens using a laser light source. Vivid, detailed 4K footage can therefore be displayed even in environments not fully adapted to view high-quality images, such as living rooms or living rooms, where it is not possible to completely limit outdoor light.
Ultra-high contrast optics
The new ultra-high contrast optical system used in the DLA-RS2200 projector has contributed to an optical brightness of up to 2300 lumens. The new optical system has also dramatically improved image quality by accurately suppressing unnecessary beams of light escaping through the lens towards the projection screen.
2 tonal mappings: HDR10 with Frame Adapt HDR Gen2 and HDR10+
HDR (High Dynamic Range) definitely increases the power of image expression. The new JVC Reference models perfectly reproduce HDR video rich in extended brightness ranges, BT.2020 wide color gamut and 10-bit gradation. Projectors support popular HDR formats, including HDR10 for Blu-ray and streaming, HLG for TV channels, and the latest HDR10+ signal format with support for dynamic metadata.
JVC projectors are compatible with two dynamic types of tonal mapping: Frame Adapt HDR and HDR10+.
HDR10+
In HDR10, the basic for HDR content playback, only two pieces of information are available: MaxCLL, which represents the maximum brightness of the content, and MaxFALL, which represents the average maximum brightness. In HDR10+, however, information about the brightness of each scene is embedded in the content as metadata, which allows you to map tones specific to each scene and faithfully reproduce the HDR image intended by the creator.
Display Mastering Luminance (DML) for even better HDR - New
DML (Max Display Mastering Luminance) metadata, which represents the level of professional monitor rivets used to gradate the film according to the director’s standards, is used to set the dynamic range of the title for better HDR tone mapping. In the DLA-RS1200/RS2200 series, both DML and MaxCLL values are used to set the characteristics of HDR levels.
Deeper blacks for even richer gradation
A new Deep Black feature has been added to Frame Adapt HDR and with it a new algorithm designed to further darken tones in dark areas for a more realistic black. This feature maximizes the dynamic range of new generations of 4K D-ILA devices and delivers images with more contrast than ever before. Scenes with light and dark shades, such as night landscapes, can be displayed with greater realism.
Low Latency Mode significantly reducing frame latency when playing
The availability of new high-tech gaming consoles has contributed to the development of 4K/HDR10+ games. The new JVC DLA-RS1200 offers a low-latency mode that provides significant frame latency reduction and allows you to enjoy a small input lag in computer games. Low Latency improves the processing of high-bandwidth signals such as 4K10bit, 12bit, etc., directly, without compression, in order to preserve the quality of the original. It also improves image quality and speeds up processes, which has a significant impact on reducing frame latency when playing games.
New Vivid Mode display for SDR content
To recreate SDR content with a narrow dynamic range in more saturated colors, the conventional Natural mode has been upgraded to the new “Vivid” mode. This mode is great for displaying animated SDR content that is popular in streaming content, and for computer games,
ISF certificate
The new JVC DLA-RS1200 projectors are ISF ccc® certified, which guarantees the possibility of perfect calibration by a qualified calibrator. The projector has the ability to adjust settings very precisely, and professional calibration ensures an ideal image consistent with the director's intentions, taking into account projection screen parameters, lighting conditions and signal sources.
Autocalibration
Thanks to the automatic calibration function, the user can enjoy optimally set image parameters regardless of installation conditions such as projector location, zoom position or lens-shift settings. In addition, calibration is an excellent solution for compensating for the wrong color balance that occurs over time when the projector is used.
Wide image adjustment options
Wide image setting options allowing for both professional color adjustment (6-axis color adjustment system), white balance, gamma, as well as brightness or contrast. JVC projectors known for their ability to achieve an almost perfect reference image after calibration. For me demanding, an automatic calibration option is available.
Color convergence adjustment function
The pixel position correction function used in the projectors allows you to adjust the color convergence with an accuracy of 1/16 pixel. The matrix is divided into segments giving the possibility of partial correction of convergence in up to 121 points. The result is a clear image with no color deviations.
Lens memory for screen use in cinematic format
Most of the interesting films in recent months have been released in cinematic format. What’s more, the image we encounter in cinemas is more natural for our eyes, and the screen in 2,35:1 format simply looks better in the home theater room. In JVC projectors, the sharpness, magnification and offset of the lens can be remembered for video content displayed in different formats and easily switched between each other. Now you can enjoy a truly panoramic image.
Installation mode
Among the functions of the DLA-RS1200 you can find an installation mode that remembers and loads up to 5 image positions dz taking into account various settings. We can remember and then recall from memory such settings as:
- the above-mentioned lens memory taking into account focus, optical zoom and lens-shift position
- Convergence of 4K D-ILA panels relative to each other
- screen masking, anamorphic mode, adjusting settings to the projection surface of a specific manufacturer
- method of projector installation, Keystone correction or curvature correction.
Very flexible projector mounting
JVC projectors allow installation even in technically difficult rooms. The JVC DLA-RS2200 projector has a 1,6x optical zoom with electric adjustment of magnification, focus and lens offset in the range of ±70% vertically and ±28% horizontally.
Anamorphic 4K scaling
The new Reference Series projector works with commercially available anamorphic lenses (a special type of lens that distorts images in one dimension using optical cylindrical or prismatic elements). It also has a new scaling mode, optimized for native 4K resolution specific to the D-ILA mechanism.
USB Backup
The USB Back-up feature allows you to save and upload settings from your device's main menu to an external USB flash drive at the same time. This is important to keep adjustments made by the installer or calibration specialist, or to undo unintended changes made by children or family members.
Compatibility with Control4 SDDP standard
The new JVC DLA-RS2200 projector model - like its predecessors - is compatible with the Simple Device Discovery Protocol (SDDP) on which the Control4 control system is based. When a SDDP-compatible device is added to Control4, it is automatically recognized; the necessary projector drivers are automatically added to allow external control of the device.
Easy to use remote control
The remote control with dedicated buttons for adjusting the 3D image, lens memory, input selection or image display mode provides exceptional functionality. The buttons are automatically illuminated for trouble-free operation even in a dark room.
Expanded I/O terminal
There are 2 HDMi inputs at the user's disposal, as well as a LAN terminal for remote operation, and USB for uploading new firmware.
