To obtain fully repeatable and precise results, follow the key principles of optical IR measurements:
- Equipment acclimatization: Both the thermometer and the test person should be in the same room for a minimum of 30 minutes before the test.
- Distance and point: The sensor should be directed to the center of the forehead and keep the distance indicated by the manufacturer (usually 01.5 cm).
- Skin preparation: The forehead must be clean sweat, cosmetics, creams or hair covering them can underestimate the reading.
- Maintenance: IR sensor lens must be spotlessly clean. It should be wiped gently with an isopropyl alcohol wipe, avoiding touching it with your fingers.
