100 test strips
Accu-Chek Instant bar tests together with Accu-Chek Instant glucose meter are designed to be used to quantify the concentration of glucose in fresh whole capillary blood from the finger, hand, forearm and arm, as an aid in monitoring the effectiveness of glucose control.
Action
Accu-Chek Instant meets the requirements of ISO 15197:2013 (In vitro diagnostic testing systems – Requirements for blood glucose monitoring systems for self-control in diabetic patients). Calibration and traceability:
The system (glucose meter and strip tests) was calibrated with venous blood samples of different glucose concentrations.
Reference values were obtained using hexokinase method, calibrated by ID‑GCMS method.
The ID‑GCMS method as a top-class metrology (government) method is traceable with the original NIST standard. Through this chain, the measurement results obtained by means of a strip test for the control solution can also be identified in the NIST standard. Limit of detection (lowest displayed value): 10 mg/dL (0,6 mmol/L) for strip test Measuring range of the system: 10 – 600 mg/dL (0,6 – 33,3 mmol/L) Sample size: 0,6 μL Measurement duration: < 4 seconds
Storage method30°C
Method of use
A study evaluating glucose values measured in capillary blood samples from the fingertip obtained from 101 people without any special training yielded the following results:
At blood glucose concentrations below 100 mg/dL (below 5,55 mmol/L), 100 % of the measurement results were in the range of ±15 mg/dL (in the range of ±0,83 mmol/L) of the laboratory procedure measurement results.
At blood glucose concentrations equal to or greater than 100 mg/dL (equal to or greater than 5,55 mmol/L), 96,7 % of the measurement results were in the range of ±15 % of the laboratory procedure measurement results.
Measurement method:
An enzyme used in a strip test reaction, FAD-dependent glucose dehydrogenase (GDH) isolated from A. oryzae converts glucose in a blood sample to gluconolactone. This reaction causes a harmless direct current, which is processed using a glucose meter to interpret the result of blood glucose measurement. The sample and environmental conditions are assessed using alternating and direct current.
Strip tests give results that correspond to plasma glucose levels as recommended by the International Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (IFCC). Therefore, the glucose meter displays values in relation to plasma glucose concentration, although whole blood is always applied to the strip test.
When using an Accu-Chek Instant or Accu-Chek Instant S glucose meter, you should always follow the applicable rules for handling items that may be contaminated with material of human origin. Hygiene regulations and safety rules applicable in the laboratory or centre must be observed.
