PS-PROTECT cartridges are characterized by a gradient structure in which the density of fibers increases to the inside of the cartridge, thus decreasing the micronage, increasing the filtration efficiency. The production process was further improved by UST-M engineers, which allowed to extend the life of the cartridges.

Tap water or well water may contain fine mechanical impurities such as sand, rust, silt and sediments. They cause deterioration of water clarity, may settle on fittings and accelerate the wear of devices and other elements of the treatment system.

USTM PS5-PROTECT antibacterial foam insert thoroughly filters water from particles as small as 5 micrometers. At the same time, the antibacterial technology used limits the growth of microorganisms on the surface of the cartridge, especially during periods when water remains in the filter housing and does not flow through the system.

HOW DOES THE PS5-PROTECT CARTRIDGE WORK?

Water flows through the porous structure of the polypropylene nonwoven fabric. Mechanical impurities are retained inside the filter material:

• larger particles remain in the outer layers,
• medium pollutants are retained deeper,
• the finest particles are captured in the most dense part of the insert.

This solution limits the rapid clogging of the surface and allows for better use of the capacity of the entire insert.

Antibacterial technology works directly in the filter material. It limits the growth of microorganisms on the cartridge, which is particularly important in installations used irregularly and in housings where water may periodically remain motionless.

WHAT DOES 5 MICRON ACCURACY MEAN?

One micrometer is one thousandth of a millimeter. The 5 µm precision insert is designed to retain very fine mechanical impurities.

It is especially useful when the problem is:

• fine sand,
• rust particles,
• mule,
• pipe sediment,
• suspensions that impair water clarity,
• small impurities getting into the fittings.

The 5-micron cartridge provides more thorough filtration than 20 or 50 µm models. In case of heavily polluted water, it is worth using a higher permeability cartridge in front of it to limit its premature wear.

INSTALLING THE INSERT

1. Close the water supply to the filter housing.
2. Open the nearest water point and relieve the pressure from the system.
3. Unscrew the body cover using the appropriate wrench.
4. Remove the used cartridge.
5. Wash the inside of the filter housing.
6. Check the condition of the O-ring seal.
7. Place the new insert centrally in the lampshade.
8. Screw the housing on according to the housing manufacturer's recommendations.
9. Slowly open the water supply.
10. Check the tightness of the connection.
11. Rinse the cartridge before normal use.

When replacing, keep clean and avoid touching the cartridge with dirty hands.

WHEN SHOULD THE CARTRIDGE BE REPLACED?

The frequency of replacement depends primarily on:

• quality of filtered water,
• the amount of pollutants retained,
• water consumption,
• installation efficiency,
• time of use,
• noticeable drop in pressure.

The cartridge should be replaced when:

• the water flow will significantly decrease,
• the insert will be very dirty,
• a large amount of sediment will accumulate on its surface,
• the replacement deadline recommended for your installation has passed.

The insert is a disposable item. It should not be rinsed and reassembled.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

• The cartridge is intended for cold water filtration only.
• Do not use with hot water or outside the specified temperature range.
• The product removes mechanical impurities but does not soften water.
• Does not remove dissolved salts, scale, nitrates or most chemicals.
• It does not replace a carbon cartridge or reverse osmosis membrane.
• Antibacterial technology protects the insert material and limits the growth of bacteria on its surface.
