The story began in Svelvik, Norway

Adax AS was founded in November 1948 as an “electrical mecanis”, and its headquarters has always been located in Svelvik, Norway. In 2000, Adax was acquired by the Otterlei Group. Recently, production was moved from the factory in Svelvik to a subsidiary in Poniewież, Lithuania.

From small heaters to wall heaters with thermostat

We quickly realized that the kitchen appliances alone would not meet our development ambitions and we started looking for new, alternative products. Small portable floor heating heaters had a bright future, and our first portable heater appeared on the market in 1958. The continuation with wall radiators was a logical step taken in 1962. We are always striving to find innovations in our solutions – we were almost the first to provide wall radiators with thermostats.

Award-winning project

70 years of experience and solid craftsmanship distinguish us in the field of innovation and design. In 1968, we received an award for the design of the popular flow water heater. In 2008, the Norwegian Design Council awarded us the “Award for Design Excellence” award for our Neo oven.

Hareide Design helped us design Neo in 2006. Designed to enhance user-friendliness, Neo offers a visible digital display and an easy-to-use control panel. Neo has revolutionaryly improved its product category and presented our customers with a modern design facility, which was previously a standard electric device with a surface heater. Thanks to its minimalist design, Neo quickly became the market leader in its segment – the best-selling designer radiator, whose sales exceeded half a million copies in Scandinavia. Our new Clea series, based on the Neo series, was later produced with a glass front to give your home a particularly modern and exclusive look.
