Garmin Striker 4 is the cheapest branded sonar from GPS supporting CHIRP technology. It has a 77/200 kHz converter. Thanks to this, we can choose a wide cone angle at 77 kHz and a narrower one more precise at 200 kHz. This allows you to adjust the settings of the sonar to our needs.

Striker 4 is equipped with Smooth Scalling™ technology, i.e. smooth image scaling when changing the depth range (continuity of the displayed bottom when changing the depth range), which is not standard in this price range. We can also scroll the imaging history to several windows back. We also have the ability to choose the color of the displayed image and its various configuration. We can view the image of the sonar all over the screen or divide it into two parts, which makes it easier to observe the bottom and at the same time navigate to the selected place. The division can be vertical or horizontal. You can also change the size of the windows.

For ice fishing, the A-scope function is useful for displaying fish flowing through the transducer beam in real time. For traditionalists, there is also a Flasher or A-scope in a circle. The range of this sonar is up to 490 m in fresh water.

GPS in this model allows us to remember our favorite places, there is also a trace of where we sailed. To make the remembered points more easily recognizable, we can assign them an icon from a rich palette, we can name them in our own way or write a comment to them. When saving a point, the depth in a given place and the temperature of the water that was at that moment are remembered. To return to a specific point, simply select it from the list of points and GPS will show us a straight path from our position to it.

Garmin Striker 4 has a simple and intuitive menu in Polish and a metric system. The included in Polish instruction will allow us to quickly get acquainted with the operation of this sonar.

Explore the purity of the CHIRP sonar signal

The STRIKER 4 echo sounder is equipped with a wide beam CHIRP transducer from Garmin, which provides much higher clarity and accuracy in fish imaging and structures compared to traditional 77/200 kHz transducers. CHIRP sonar does not send a single signal of a certain frequency, but a series of signals of different frequencies, which it then interprets individually when they return. Due to the fact that signals of different frequencies provide more information, CHIRP sonar technology provides clearly outlined arcs depicting fish with excellent distinction of objects. It is also possible to upgrade to Garmin’s high-performance CHIRP technology, which provides crystal clear sonar images, with even better object differentiation and excellent resolution of both surface and deep water. It provides better visibility of the bottom contours even at high speeds and better suppression of signal interference in deeper waters, giving a better view of the situation underwater, which in turn increases the pleasure of fishing.

Unlike typical fishing sonars, STRIKER sonars are equipped with a built-in high-sensitivity GPS receiver for fast and precise location of the current position and maintaining GPS location anywhere on the lake. More importantly, they make it possible to mark the places where fish are taken, which makes it possible to return to them in the future. You can also mark docks, boat piers and other locations on the lake. All you need to do is follow the path marked on the screen to return to them at any time. The map with route points ensures easy navigation.

The high-sensitivity GPS receiver of the STRIKER series provides the ability to track your position relative to marked points of the route. Marked points such as thickets, stumps, docks, piers are displayed on the map. The device allows you to navigate to them. This is an excellent tool for finding your way back.

Checking the speed on the screen

On the screen of the STRIKER sonar you can quickly and easily check the speed of the boat. This tool also gives you confidence in the right fishing speed in relation to the bait used and the species of fish. It is also a good way to check the right speed in areas of controlled track traffic.
