The diagnostic interface is used to diagnose all electronic equipment systems and to monitor the engine operation of Volvo cars. The interface is an alternative to the Volvo Vadis service device used in authorized diagnostic stations for Volvo cars, making the PC a practical diagnostic tool.

Using the diagnostic interface is extremely simple. On the one hand, the device is connected to the diagnostic connector in the car, and on the other hand to any PC equipped with a USB connector (the first time you connect to the computer, you need to install the drivers provided on the CD). After proper connection, turn on the ignition, then start the appropriate diagnostic program.

The program that works with the interface is Vol-FCR and Brick-Diag. After starting the program, we select the vehicle model and then the module with which we want to establish communication. Examples of diagnostic options for the C 70 model are presented.

When we choose the module we are interested in, we turn on the ignition, and then wait for the connection to the controller. The figure shows an example of reading codes from the engine controller in the C 70 model.
