Meters, magnetic varnish testers are solutions based on the principle of magnetic force, which attracts a magnet (in this case neodymium) to steel. The thicker the layer of varnish on the steel, the less attraction force.
It should be noted that these solutions are not as accurate as electronic paint thickness meters, but their accuracy is sufficient to quite accurately assess the condition of the car bodywork. The average user will become skilled in measurements after just a few attempts.
