The GL-8s has undergone a facelift and software updates, making measurements even faster and more accurate, and the menu more transparent. The meter also received a brand new measuring probe, a new high-quality improved housing and a new case, high-quality zippered.

The gl-8 model has a measuring probe built into the meter, while the letter "s" in the designation of the gl-8s model says that the measuring probe of the meter is placed on the cable. The rest of the parameters and functions remain the same.

The device is based on a modern, fast processor and new measurement algorithm.

The meter has a probe on the cable with a head suspended elastically, which is constructed in such a way that when pressing the probe to the test surface, it "slides" 2-3mm. Thanks to this, the measurement becomes more accurate due to a more even pressure to the test surface. Cable length approx. 65cm.

The distinguishing feature of the GL-8s meter is the ability to measure on steel, galvanized steel and aluminum sheets. Measurement range (paint thickness): 0µm to 2000µm. Measurement resolution: 10µm or 1µm.

It is a solution used in the most expensive meters. It allows you to measure and stop it, so that we can move the meter away from the test surface and read the measurement. The HOLD function can be disabled from the MENU, then we have the ability to measure continuously.

The meter has a zero function (calibration) – the zero plate is included.

It is especially useful when measuring with the HOLD function enabled. After the measurement, the meter informs us about this fact with a short beep.

From the MENU you can choose one of three languages: Polish, English and German.

Built-in memory 200 measurements allows you to freely view measurements after the measurement activities. Memory does not delete when the device is turned off or the battery is removed

2x R3 alkaline battery (AAA) "thin fingers".

Thanks to the use of modern design, this meter is very economical. Two so-called power supply is enough. "thin fingers" alkaline. The working time on such a battery reaches up to several hours of continuous operation.

There is a battery level indicator on the meter display. Thanks to the indicator, we will not be surprised by a discharged battery and we can replace it in advance.

The meter is operated from the 11-function main MENU, and navigation is done using a 2-button keyboard.

When the MEASUREMENT ASSISTANT® function is enabled, the meter displays on the display when making measurements messages informing about the condition of the flashing machine:

• "THIN" - lacquer too thin
• "LAK OK" - lacquer correct
• "2xLAK" - second coat of varnish
• "KIT! " - putty

It should be noted that the MEASUREMENT ASSISTANT® function is only to help in the interpretation of measurements, it cannot be the basis for an unambiguous answer to the question whether the car had sheet metal and varnish repairs. Nevertheless, many people who evaluate cars do not really know what a given paint thickness means, which is why the above function is to help in this.
