Mustad is a Norwegian manufacturer of fishing accessories, which is famous primarily for its reliable hooks – absolute best-sellers on a global scale available in over 160 countries. The beginnings of the company date back nearly two centuries. Founder of a company that originally dealt with the production of metal objects used on the farm (e.g. horseshoe nails), former farmer Hans Skikkelstad. Two generations later, his relatives took over the business, including his grandson-namesake with a visionary flair.
It was Hans Junior who saw the potential in the fishing market and introduced iconic hooks to the offer – his modern approach to marketing took local business to a whole new level. Employees were sent on trips to distant factories to broaden their horizons and draw inspiration from the best; world-class specialists, including Henry Haynes, helped to improve projects. The development of the business was also influenced by the invention of Mathias Topp – the first automatic machine for the production of fishing hooks. Already in the 50s.
