Multi-season tyres are gaining more and more popularity, and Michelin certainly has its share in this. In March 2021, a new generation of all-season tyre, the CrossClimate 2, was introduced. Statistics leave no doubt – this market segment enjoys growing interest. What’s more, premium tyre manufacturers, like Michelin, are seeing a dynamic increase in sales by introducing improved versions of popular models, as in the case of CrossClimate 2 with winter homologation.
The MICHELIN CrossClimate 2 is not just another all-season tyre. Achieving top-notch “A” wet grip according to both summer and winter tyre evaluation criteria puts this tyre in a completely new category. It is a combination of winter and summer tyre technology, which until now was considered impossible to achieve in one product. CrossClimate 2 adapts its properties to weather conditions thanks to its innovative tread design and the use of intelligent elastomers.
Tread Flexibility – Excellent Adhesion on Any Surface The tread surface of the tyre is extremely flexible, allowing it to adhere to the slightest unevenness of the surface in all conditions – on dry roads, wet surfaces and covered with snow.
Low Rolling Resistance – Performance and Ecology Michelin engineers reduced rolling resistance by using the latest generation silica in the rubber compound under the tread. This means lower heat production, which translates into tyre efficiency and at the same time contributes to ecology.
3D Lamelles – Excellent Traction in Winter 3D Lamelles running along the tread blocks combine the features of summer and winter tires. In winter conditions, wavy lamellas give the effect of a “claw”, providing better traction, and the width and variability of the lamella geometry increase efficiency.
Directional Sculpture – Snow Adhesion Optimization Tread pattern with variable angles of elongated blocks optimizes grip on snow. Both in the transverse direction, thanks to the sharp angle in the center and longitudinal, where the pads open, the tire provides excellent grip.
Self-locking Lameli – Stability and Safety The corrugation of lamellas, both vertical and horizontal, creates a self-locking effect. The rims close, increasing the stiffness of the tread pads and providing better tire stability during traction, braking and cornering.
MICHELIN CrossClimate 2 is a tyre that redefines the standards of all-season tyres. Innovative technologies make it an excellent choice for drivers looking for versatile tires that do not compromise performance in any weather conditions.
By combining the features of summer and winter tyres, the CrossClimate 2 becomes a pioneer in the automotive world, offering safety, durability and performance all year round.
The lower the rolling resistance of a tire, the greater the fuel savings. A car with tires in fuel efficiency class A consumes up to 7.5% less fuel than one with tires in class G.
This rating assesses the braking distance from 80 km/h (approximately 50 mph) on a wet surface. A passenger car with F-rated tires in this class will take 18 meters (approximately 59 feet) longer to stop than a car with tires in grip class A.
The label shows three sound waves. The fewer the number of black waves, the quieter the tire rolls. The measured value of external rolling noise in decibels is also shown next to the waves.
