The IBO 10" string cartridge with an accuracy of 5 microns is the perfect solution for cleaning water from mechanical impurities. Made of polypropylene nonwoven fabric, it provides effective filtration while minimizing pressure drops in the installation. Ideal for filtration in home water systems.

Key Features:

• Precise filtration: The cartridge stops minor mechanical contaminants such as:SandMuleRdza
• Material: High-quality polypropylene, which guarantees safety and effectiveness.
• Gradient construction: Decreasing diameter of micropores towards the inside of the cartridge, which increases the filter surface and prolongs its service life.

Technical specification:

• Height: 25 cm
• Diameter: 5,5 cm
• Accuracy: 5 microns
• Material: Polypropylene twine
• Working temperature: from 1°C to 30°C
• Performance: 25 litres per minute
• Lifetime: Up to 14,000 litres or 6 months (depending on contamination)
• Recommended replacement: Every 1-2 months

Application:

Water flows through the cartridge, where impurities are retained in micropores. Larger particles remain on the outer layers, and smaller ones penetrate deeper. This makes filtration more efficient, which prolongs the life of the cartridge and increases efficiency.

String inserts are mainly used in water installations where there is low pressure (string to a lesser extent than nonwoven fabric lowers pressure).

Advantages:

• Improvement of taste and smell of water
• Extend the life of water installations by removing harmful deposits from water
• Ease of installation – the cartridge fits standard in-line filters with a size of 10 inches.

What do microns in filter cartridges mean?

Mikron, also known as a micrometer, is a unit of length equal to one millionth of a meter (1 µm = 0,000001 m). In the context of filtration, the value of microns refers to the size of the pores in the filter material, which determines what molecules can penetrate it. The lower the number of microns, the smaller the impurities are able to stop the filter, which translates into more effective filtration.

What do specific micron values in filters mean?

• 1 micron: A filter of this porosity traps very fine particles, including bacteria, viruses and certain types of algae. This is the highest level of filtration, often used in drinking water treatment systems.
• 5 microns: Filters with a porosity of 5 microns retain most bacteria, fine particles of rust, silt and cyst parasites. They are popular in filtration systems that protect household appliances such as washing machines and dishwashers.
• 10 micron: A filter with this porosity removes larger particles such as sand, rust and sediment. It is often used as a prefilter against more precise filter cartridges.
• 20 micron: Stops medium-sized particles such as sand or larger silt and rust fragments. Ideal for pre-filtration of water before it reaches more advanced purification systems.
• 50 microns: Filters with a porosity of 50 microns are used to retain the largest particles such as sand, gravel and coarse debris. This is usually the first line of defense in filtration systems.

How to choose the right filter?

Choosing the right filter depends on the type of contaminants you want to remove and the quality of the source water:

• 1 to 5 microns: Perfect for filtration of drinking water, as they remove the smallest particles, including microorganisms.
• 5 to 10 microns: Effective in protecting household appliances, preventing contaminants from settling.
• 20 to 50 microns: Ideal for removing larger contaminants, such as sand, before further filtration.

When choosing a filter, remember that the smaller the number of microns, the more accurate the filtration. However, you should also pay attention to the fact that less porosity can affect the water pressure, so it is worth adjusting the filtration to your needs.
