The Motorola MBP36XL 5 inch portable video nanny is a wireless digital baby monitor that offers excellent image quality on a large, five-inch screen. An infrared/night vision camera provides very sharp and clear images is good news, because night is usually the time when we need it most. The range of this monitor impressed us in our tests. The parent unit has a battery, and there is also a battery in the camera, which can be useful in the event of a power outage. Screen

The image on the parent unit screen is clear and sharp to the point that parents could see if their child’s eyes were open or closed. The colors on the screen are realistic and in our opinion it provides one of the best picture quality of all the video monitors tested. A nice feature is the ability to turn off the image and use only the sound ideal solution if you want to be able to eavesdrop while performing other tasks or when you want to calm down.

The monitor sound is generally very clear. We played a recording of a crying baby on the monitor and the sound was one of the truest. All of our practical parents found that adjusting the volume was easy and they were able to set it to a level they were happy with. When we measured the white noise level with a sound meter, we obtained one of the quietest readings from all the monitors we tested.

Overall happy with the MBP36XL swivel, tilt and zoom feature to ensure a good view of your baby. In this case, it will be a good idea to take the time to mount it on a wall or shelf. The camera angle can be adjusted remotely using the parent unit, which is great if you have a child who likes to explore all corners of their crib.

We tested the range of the monitor in a four-story house, with a camera in the attic room in the front half of the house. It stayed within range on each floor, with only two small blind spots, both at the very end of the house. Of all the digital monitors we tested, this one was one of the best in terms of coverage. Plus, the warning sound when you're out of range is clear, so you won't miss it.
