These headphones have a comfortable on-ear fit that helps passively reduce ambient noise, as well as a 75 dB volume limit that is ideal for listening in quieter environments. For louder venues, noise cancellation can be enabled using headphones or the Philips Headphones app — and parents can set 85 dB travel mode in the app*.
Adaptive noise cancellation for safe listening anywhere
Adaptive noise cancellation automatically adapts to your surroundings so kids can focus in silence — or hear their sounds in noisy places without having to turn up the volume! The earmuff controls activate Awareness mode so kids can hear what’s happening around them, and Quick Awareness amplifies voices so they can hear you while wearing headphones.
Wireless audio sharing doubles the fun
If your child’s friends also have a pair of Philips K5500 headphones, they can create a wireless chain between the headphones and listen to the same songs. One pair of headphones is connected to the smart device they want to listen to from, and then they both have to press the multifunction button to go into audio sharing mode.
Folding design with convenient and child-friendly controls
The large round control buttons on the ear cups make the headphones easy to use, while the soft ear cushions make it comfortable to wear. The padded headband adjusts for a perfect fit, and the dots on the back indicate which way you should wear your headphones. The headphones can be folded flat or flat and inward, making them easy to store when not in use.
Clear conversations with friends and family
The built-in microphone allows kids to have conversations with family and friends. A dedicated microphone captures the sound of their voice, while a noise cancellation algorithm mutes some of the ambient noise.
Long battery life and easy connection
Once fully charged, you can get up to 60 hours of playback (34 with noise cancellation enabled), and a quick 15-minute charge allows for 10 hours of runtime. In addition, the headphones are equipped with a 3,5 mm audio jack for wired listening. The dedicated BT button makes it easy for kids to pair with their devices, while the multipoint connectivity allows them to connect to more than one device at a time.
Application Philips Headphones with parental control
Our companion app can be used to set playback timeouts so kids don’t listen too long. You can also use the app to switch these headphones from the default setting, where the volume is limited to 75 dB, to a travel mode that limits the volume to 85 dB.
