Purpose and function

It is a compact USB-C hub designed to expand the number of ports in a laptop, tablet or computer equipped with a USB-C connector. It allows you to simultaneously connect up to four USB devices in the SuperSpeed USB 3.2 Gen 1 (5 Gbps) standard, which allows you to conveniently transfer data and handle peripherals without the need for an additional power supply.

Ports and data transfer

The device offers three USB-A ports and one USB-C port, all compatible with USB 3.2 Gen 1 (SuperSpeed 5 Gbps). With UASP support, the performance of disk operations is improved when connecting high-speed external media, and the actual transfer speed corresponds to the SuperSpeed specification (approx. 5000 Mbit/s). The hub is suitable for connecting SSDs, pendrives, keyboards, mice, webcams and USB headphones.

Power supply and power limits

The hub is powered by a bus powered port and divides the available connector into connected devices. The maximum total power available for USB devices is up to 15W (5V/3A), so it does not provide power suitable for charging laptops or other devices requiring more power. The absence of a DC-in connector means that the operation depends on the power provided by the host.

Design and mobility

The housing made of plastic has a small size and low weight, which makes it easy to carry the hub. The built-in cable management system (wrap-around cable manager) allows you to wrap and hide the host cable, which prevents tangling and facilitates transport. The length of the built-in cable is about 0,266 m, which provides a convenient connection in a typical workstation with a laptop set on a stand or on a desk.

Compatibility and working conditions

The hub is operating system independent and works with USB-C or Thunderbolt 3 enabled devices with standard data transmission modes. The designed operating temperature range is 0-70 °C and the operating humidity range is 0-85% RH. The device uses a controller compatible with the given chipset, which affects the stability of connections in standard office and multimedia applications.
