Satechi 13-in-1 USB-C Triple Display Multiport Adapter in Black is a multiport adapter with 13 connectors. It allows you to connect monitors, USB devices, wired Ethernet and audio accessories. It supports data transfer rates of up to 10 Gbps and charging a compatible computer with up to 85W of power.

On compatible Windows PCs and MST support, the adapter allows you to extend your desktop to up to three external screens. One extended image is supported on macOS, and the other connected monitors display a copy of it.

13 ports for connecting devices

The Satechi adapter connects video, data, power, network and audio connectors. Available ports include:

Three external screens in Windows

Multi-Stream Transport, or MST, allows you to use up to three independent external screens over a single USB-C connection. Requires a compatible Windows PC and MST support.

The resolution available when connecting three monitors depends on the source device and the available connection bandwidth.

HDMI 4K and DisplayPort outputs

HDMI outputs support images up to 4K resolution at 60Hz refresh rates in a compatible configuration. DisplayPort allows you to get up to 8K resolution on a compatible Windows PC.

Image parameters depend on the computer, the number of connected screens and available bandwidth. Support for multiple monitors does not mean getting the maximum parameters of each output at the same time.

The manufacturer requires a direct HDMI connection to the HDMI monitor or a direct DisplayPort connection to the DisplayPort monitor.

Monitor support in macOS and iPadOS

On compatible devices with macOS, iOS, and iPadOS, the adapter supports one extended external image. Subsequent monitors connected to the adapter display a duplicate image. The adapter does not provide three independent external desktops on these systems.

USB-C Power Delivery with up to 85W charging

The USB-C power cord can be connected to any of the two USB-C PD ports. The adapter accepts power up to 100 W and transmits a maximum of 85 W to the compatible source device. The remaining 15 W is intended for the operation of the adapter.

Both USB-C ports also support data transfer rates of up to 10 Gbps. They are not used for image transfer.

Six USB-A ports for data transfer

Satechi 13-in-1 USB-C Triple Display Multiport Adapter allows you to connect up to six USB-A devices. The transmission speed depends on the selected port: up to 10 Gbps for USB-A 3.1, up to 5 Gbps for USB-A 3.0 and up to 480 Mbps for USB-A 2.0.

USB-A ports do not support charging. The manufacturer also excludes support for CD/DVD drives, including Apple SuperDrive.

Gigabit Ethernet and audio jack

The RJ45 port allows you to connect an Ethernet network cable and use a connection with speeds up to 1 Gbps.

The 0,35 cm audio minijack jack supports audio input and output. Allows you to connect compatible headphones, speakers or microphone. In the system sound settings, select the adapter audio device.

Connection without installing additional software

The adapter works in plug and play mode. No need to install third-party drivers or software. When connected to a compatible device, the LED indicator lights up.

Compatibility and connection requirements

The manufacturer lists compatibility with selected Windows, macOS, iOS, iPadOS, Chrome OS and Linux devices. For Chrome OS and Linux, the ability to extend the image depends on the device and operating system.

Does the adapter support three independent monitors on MacBook?

No. In macOS, the adapter allows you to get one extended external image. The other connected monitors display a copy of it. Three independent screens require a compatible Windows PC and MST support.

Do all USB ports have 10 Gbps?
