Christian Dior was born on 21 January 1905 in Granville, Normandy. He was the son of a wealthy fertilizer manufacturer. From an early age, he was interested in design, dreaming of the profession of an architect. Thanks to the persuasion of his father, who wanted his son to be a diplomat, he began his studies at the elite Ecole des Sciences Politiques. In 1928, his father allocated a large amount of money so that Dior could open an art gallery.

However, he made one very important condition - the name Dior could not appear on the door. The gallery displayed images of m.in. Pablo Picasso. Soon, however, the family began to have financial problems, which also contributed to the closure of the gallery. Christian Dior began designing hats and dresses for several fashion houses. His designs gained widespread recognition and appeared in the fashion department of Figaro magazine. Due to the outbreak of World War II, Dior was called up for military service, but shortly after his surrender he signed up for designer Lucien Lelong, designing clothes for the German elite in Paris.

After the war, Dior was commissioned to refresh the Philippe et Gaston brand, a clothing company owned by Marcel Boussac. Boussac trusted Dior’s intuition that post-war society needed a new style. Indeed, Dior’s sumptuous, shapely silhouette and undulating skirts quickly became a fashion statement in the world’s salons. In 1946, Christian Dior decided to establish his own fashion house with 85 employees and located at Avenue Montaigne 30. A year later there was a show of his own first collection. Christian Dior immediately became the most popular and respected fashion designer. His name was known all over the world, and prominent personalities using his talent are min. Marlene Dietrich, Princess Margaret and Duchess of Windsor. Shortly thereafter, together with Serg Heftler Louiche, he founded Christian Dior Perfume. The first exclusive perfume was launched on the market - Miss Dior.
