The most common cause of coniferous tree death is nutrient deficiency. After some time from planting, the color of the needles changes to light green, then yellow, after all, the needles brown and fall and the tree dies. The described symptoms are not caused by pests. These are the consequences of improper supply of nutrients - magnesium deficiency is most common. Since the absorption of components from the soil decreases very much in dry soil, the described symptoms of deficiency are most often visible during periods of drought. These deficiencies can be prevented by providing magnesium to trees, both by soil fertilization and foliar feeding.
Spread the recommended dose of fertilizer evenly under the crown of trees or shrubs. Then the plants should be watered abundantly. Fertilizer can be used throughout the year as needed. It is especially advisable to use fertilizer at the time of the appearance of the first symptoms of browning of needles. Fertilizer can also be used in the form of foliar spraying. For this treatment, about 5% fertilizer solution is recommended (500 g of fertilizer per 10 l of water). With severe deficiency, this procedure should be repeated 2 - 3 times at 14-day intervals.
