Long Range Intelligent PoE Switch in Coaxial Cable Based Network

PLANET LRP-1622CS, a brand new long-range multi-channel PoE switch, allows you to extend Ethernet and PoE networks up to 1 kilometer through existing coaxial cables to multiple PoE-compatible devices. It provides dual IPv6/IPv4 stack management and built-in L2/L4 Gigabit Switching engine along with 16 BNC ports with Long Reach PoE Injector function, 2 gigabit copper ports and 2 additional 100/1000BASE-X SFP fiber optic slots. Each of the 16 BNC ports provides 36 watts of power with a total power budget of up to 440 watts. As an advanced PoE switch, the LRP-1622CS has intelligent PoE features to increase the availability of critical applications. It provides a fast, secure and cost-effective PoE networking solution to upgrade your existing coaxial cable infrastructure from analogue to HD IP surveillance system.

Long Range Multi-Channel Power Over Ethernet

To support enterprises in easily building a multi-channel and centrally controlled Long Reach PoE system, the LRP-1622CS works with Long Reach PoE Extenders, the LRP-101CE, through its 16 Long Reach PoE injector BNC ports for all connected LRP Extenders. Each of the BNC ports provides data and power transmission over a distance of up to 1000m over a coaxial cable to an LRP extender, and another 100m over an Ethernet cable to remote PoE IP cameras, wireless PoE access points or 802.3af/at PoE-compliant access control systems.

Centralized energy management

With a centrally managed 440-watt PoE budget, the LRP-1622CS eliminates the need for additional power in a remote location while allowing power from a single source to both LRP extenders and long-range PoE-powered devices. Long-range PoE capabilities help reduce installation time and deployment costs for network devices as a result of freeing yourself from the limitations associated with the location of electrical outlets.

Intelligent status checking of powered devices

The LRP-1622CS can be configured to monitor the status of a connected PD (Powered Device) in real time through a ping action. When the PD stops working and responding, the LRP-1622CS will resume powering the PoE port and restore the PD to operation. This greatly increases network reliability by resetting the PoE port power source and reduces the administrator load.

Scheduled power recycling

The LRP-1622CS allows any of the connected PoE IP cameras or wireless PoE access points via the LRP-101CE Long Reach PoE Extender to restart at a specific time each week. This reduces the chance of an IP camera or wireless access point failing due to buffer overflow.

The protection mechanism also includes authentication of users and devices based on port 802.1X, which can be implemented with RADIUS to ensure port-level security and block illegal users. For efficient management, the LRP-1622CS is equipped with console, Web, Telnet and SNMP management interfaces. With its built-in Web-based management interface, the LRP-1622CS offers an easy-to-use, platform-independent management and configuration facility. With support for the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP), the switch can be managed using any standard management software. For text management, you can access the switch through Telnet and the console port.
