Robustly designed for mission-critical business applications

Designed for installation in harsh industrial environments, the IGS-4215-4T2S is a new member of the PLANET Industrial-grade family, on a DIN rail, L2/L4 Managed Gigabit Switch to improve the availability of critical business applications. It provides dual IPv6/IPv4 stack management and a built-in L2/L4 Gigabit switching motor along with 4 10/100/1000BASE-T ports and 2 additional 100/1000BASE-X SFP fiber ports for data and video transfer. The IGS-4215-4T2S is able to operate reliably, stably and quietly in any harsh environment without affecting its performance. Its operating temperature ranges from -40 to 75 degrees C in a durable IP30 metal housing.

Robust protection

The IGS-4215-4T2S provides ±6KV DC contact discharges and ±8KV DC air discharges for ESD Ethernet protection. It also supports ±4KV surge resistance to improve product stability and protects user networks from devastating ESD attacks, ensuring that workflows do not fluctuate.

Redundant ring, fast recovery for surveillance system

The IGS-4215-4T2S supports redundant ring technology and has strong rapid self-healing capabilities to prevent interruptions and external intrusions. It includes advanced ITU-T G.8032 ERPS (Ethernet Ring Protection Switching) technology, Spanning Tree Protocol (802.1s MSTP) and a redundant power system in the customer’s industrial automation network to increase system reliability and uptime in harsh factory conditions. In some simple ring networks, the data link recovery time can be as long as < 450ms.

Solid Layer 2 features

The IGS-4215-4T2S can be programmed for advanced switch management functions such as dynamic port aggregation, 802.1Q VLAN, Q-in-Q VLAN, Multiple Spanning Tree Protocol (MSTP), loop and BPDU protection, IGMP snooping and MLD snooping. Through link aggregation, the IGS-4215-4T2S allows high-speed trunk operation to connect to multiple ports, such as 8Gbps fat pipe, and also supports fail-over. Also, Link Layer Discovery Protocol (LLDP) is a Layer 2 protocol that helps you discover basic information about neighboring devices in your local broadcast domain.

IPv6/IPv4 dual stack management

Supporting both IPv6 and IPv4 protocols, the IGS-4215-4T2S helps small and medium-sized enterprises enter the IPv6 era with the lowest investment, as network devices do not need to be replaced or renovated if the FTTx IPv6 edge network is configured.

Remote management solution

The Universal Network Management System (UNI-NMS) and the CloudViewer App from PLANET enable IT staff to remotely manage all network devices and monitor PD device operating statuses. Thanks to this, they are intended for both enterprises and industries where the implementation of PD devices can take place at the furthest possible distance, without having to go to a specific location in the event of an error or fault. With the UNI-NMS or CloudViewer App, you can now quickly and efficiently manage all types of businesses with a single platform.

Efficient traffic control

The IGS-4215-4T2S is equipped with robust QoS capabilities and efficient traffic management to enhance services for business-class data, voice and video solutions. The functionality includes broadcast/multicast/unicast storm control, band per port control, 802.1p/CoS/IP DSCP QoS priority and remarking. This ensures the best performance in VoIP and video streaming and allows enterprises to take full advantage of limited network resources.

User-friendly and secure management

For efficient management, the IGS-4215-4T2S is equipped with a console, Web management interface and SNMP. With a built-in Web-based management interface, it offers easy-to-use, platform-agnostic management and configuration. For text management, the IGS-4215-4T2S can be accessed via Telnet and the console port. Moreover, it also offers secure remote management using standard management software through support for SNMPv3 connection, which encrypts packet content in each session.

Powerful Layer 2 to Layer 4 security

PLANET IGS-4215-4T2S offers a comprehensive IPv4/IPv6 Layer 2 to Layer 4 access control list (ACL) to ensure edge security. It can be used to restrict network access by rejecting packets based on source and destination IP addresses, TCP/UDP ports, or defined common network applications. The protection mechanism also includes authentication of users and devices based on 802.1X ports, which can be implemented with RADIUS to ensure port-level security and block illegal users. With Protected Port, communication between edge ports may be prevented to guarantee user privacy. In addition, Port Security allows you to limit the number of network devices on a given port.

Advanced network security

IGS-4215-4T2S also provides DHCP Snooping, IP Source Guard and Dynamic ARP Inspection features to prevent IP snooping attacks and reject ARP packets with an invalid MAC address. Network administrators can now build highly secure enterprise networks with significantly less time and effort than before.

Flexibility and expandability over long distances

The two additional SFP slots built into the IGS-4215-4T2S support 100BASE-FX /1000BASE-SX/LX SFP (Small Form-factor Pluggable) fiber optic transceivers to uplink to the backbone switch at a long distance. The distance can be increased from 550 meters to 2 kilometers (multimode fiber) and up to 120 kilometers (single-mode fiber or WDM). They are well suited for enterprise data center and distribution applications.

Intelligent SFP diagnostic mechanism

The IGS-4215-4T2S supports SFP-DDM (Digital Diagnostic Monitor) function, which can easily monitor real-time SFP parameters for network administrator, such as optical output power, optical input power, temperature, laser bias current and transceiver supply voltage.
