BCS-B-SP04G02G is a 6-port PoE switch from the BCS BASIC series, designed for small network installations such as IP monitoring systems, small offices or home LANs. Equipped with 4 gigabit PoE (Power over Ethernet) ports and 2 uplink ports, it allows simultaneous power supply and data transmission to end devices such as IP cameras or access points. The device supports VLAN, Extend, QoS, and PoE Watchdog modes, making it a versatile and reliable solution for professional use.
The most important advantages and features
- 4 PoE ports supporting IEEE 802.3af/at standards – the ability to power IP cameras and other network devices.
- Two additional 1Gbps uplink ports – for convenient connection of a local network or NVR.
- Extend mode – transmission range up to 250 meters at a lower speed (10Mbps), ideal for remote camera points.
- VLAN mode – separation of ports 1 to 4 to increase network security and stability.
- QoS (Quality of Service) mode – prioritize video traffic for better image quality from IP cameras.
- PoE Watchdog mode – automatic restart of suspended PoE-powered devices.
- Compact, lightweight desktop enclosure – ideal for installation in cabinets, offices or small switchboards.
- Maximum PoE power: 60W (up to 36W per port) – enough to power heating cameras or Wi-Fi access points.

Explanation of technical abbreviations and terms
- PoE (Power over Ethernet) – technology that allows you to transfer power and data with the same network cable, which eliminates the need for separate power supplies.
- VLAN (Virtual Local Area Network) – a virtual local area network that allows logical distribution of network traffic between ports for greater security.
- QoS (Quality of Service) – a network traffic management mechanism that prioritizes selected types of data, e.g. video transmission.
- Uplink – a port used to connect a switch to the main network or other network device (e.g. router or another switch).
- Extend mode – a mode that allows you to increase the transmission distance to 250 meters with a speed limit of 10 Mbps – especially useful in monitoring systems.
- Watchdog PoE – the function of automatically restarting PoE devices that no longer respond – increases the reliability of the system.
PoE 802.3af / 802.3at
Power supply for classic PoE cameras and PoE rotary cameras
The switch supports Power over Ethernet (PoE) technology in 802.3af and 802.3at standards, enabling simultaneous data transmission and powering of IP cameras using a twisted pair cable. PoE and PoE+ standards allow you to power both classic IP cameras and rotary cameras (PTZ) with increased power consumption.
Advantages of Power over Ethernet technology:
- It allows the installation of IP cameras in hard-to-reach places where the installation of standard power supplies is impractical. This allows for a more flexible arrangement of the monitoring system elements.
- It reduces the number of cables needed for the proper functioning of IP cameras, which speeds up the installation process and reduces its costs. All it takes is one cable to transfer data and power.
- The switch automatically detects whether the connected device supports PoE. In case of compatibility, it provides adequate power supply without the need for manual configuration.
- PoE technology includes overload and overvoltage protection mechanisms, which increases the safety and reliability of IP camera power supply.
VLAN mode
Improvement of security and increase transmission range
By far the biggest advantage of PIXIR switches is the ability to work in VLAN mode. When this mode is active, data cannot be transferred between individual PoE ports (PoE ports cannot see each other). This property significantly increases the safety of the system. A third party cannot detach the camera from the network, connect to it on the same cable and try to reconfigure or disable the other cameras.
An additional advantage of VLAN mode is a significant increase in the range of effective transmission up to 250 m (from 100 m). Thanks to this, the switch can be used to build an extensive monitoring system. However, it should be remembered that increasing the effective transmission range is associated with limiting the bandwidth of PoE ports to 10 Mbps.
Store-and-Forward
Stable data transmission
Switch uses the standard Store-and-Forward data transmission, commonly used in various network devices. It is characterized by a slightly extended transmission time, but guarantees reliable transmission of packets, which is necessary in IP monitoring systems.
Quality of Service
Providing a continuous quality connection
AI QoS function that allows intelligent management of packet flow. Thanks to this feature, transfer priority is given to packets containing video file data. This allows you to maintain the continuity of video transmission in conditions when there are any losses on the link.
BCS-B-SP04G02G is a compact but functional PoE switch, ideal for building efficient and stable LAN networks in small offices, IP monitoring systems or home installations. With 4 PoE ports, multiple operating modes (VLAN, Extend, QoS) and PoE Watchdog technology, the device provides seamless operation and simple integration with other network elements. Its compact size, low power consumption, and simple operation make it an excellent choice for demanding users.
