The 4vets Urinary Non-struvite Veterinary Diet is a complete dietary food for dogs with urinary tract conditions. It supports the treatment of cystitis and struvite stones thanks to reduced magnesium, protein and acidifying properties of urine. Diet can be an element of prevention after the disappearance of ailments. It contains a low content of sodium and potassium, which positively affects the functioning of the kidneys, and also accelerates the dissolution of residual stones.

Recommendations:

Before administering the diet, it is recommended to contact your veterinarian to determine the dose. The diet is recommended to be used from 5 to 12 weeks to dissolve struvite stones and up to 6 months to limit their re-creation. The dog should be provided with constant access to fresh drinking water.

Values:

High quality protein – food is based on sources of wholesome animal protein with low fat content. The addition of chicken egg raises the limiting amino acid coefficient to a level that guarantees the correct proportions in the use of all amino acids. The limited supply of high-quality protein covers the body's need for amino acids, but does not cause their excessive catabolization and the formation of products that could interfere with kidney function.

Omega-3 and Omega-6 – fatty acids derived from both animal-derived raw materials (salmon oil) and flaxseed oil ensure maximum involvement of polyunsaturated fatty acids from the Omega-3 and Omega-6 families in the biochemical control of pro-inflammatory cytokines formation and through specific inhibition of cyclooxygenase (COX-2) activity have analgesic properties.

Low sodium and potassium content – in the Urinary Non-Struvite veterinary diet, the raw material composition has been selected so that the diet is low-sodium and low-potassium, thanks to which the osmotic pressure exerted by electrolytes is reduced. This has a beneficial effect on the functioning of the kidneys and accelerates the dissolution of residual struvite stones.

Cranberry – contained in it hipuric acid has bacteriostatic activity, in addition, the proanthocyanidin, combining with bacterial fimbria, inactivates adhesins, thanks to which it prevents their adhesion to urinary tract epithelial cells. Cranberries effectively lower urine pH, resulting in less bacterial proliferation in the bladder and urinary tract. Thanks to these properties, it supports the treatment of infections and recurrent, chronic urinary tract infections in dogs.

Dried beer yeast (source of prebiotics: mannanooligosaccharides and β-glucans) – have a beneficial effect on the intestinal bacterial flora. Yeast has a high biological value also due to the high content of B vitamins. The use of yeast in the nutrition of young dogs is particularly important because it stimulates a wide range of immune responses.

Jukka Mojave – the presence of this ingredient stimulates digestive functions, absorption of nutrients from the digestive tract and stimulates its peristalsis. Added to the diet reduces the production of intestinal gases and the intensity of the smell of feces. In addition, yucca Mojave saponins have antibacterial activity that suppresses protozoan infections formed in the intestines, and polyphenols have anti-inflammatory properties.

Plantago psyllium (Plantago psyllium L.) – combines the properties of highly soluble fiber with a low level of fermentability in the small intestine, have a positive effect on improving intestinal peristalsis. In addition, they have the properties of binding water and creating a gel, thus normalizing the passage of food content.
