Application at home:
Soda ash is most often used at home as an ingredient in washing powders or dishwasher tablets. It has a whitening effect and removes greasy stains well.
Example recipe for homemade white washing powder:
1 serving of soda ash (e.g. glass); 1 serving of borax; 1 serving of sodium percarbonate. Mix the ingredients thoroughly and use like regular washing powder.
Hazards: H319 is irritating to the eyes.
Precautions: P264 wash hands thoroughly after use. P280 wear protective gloves/protective clothing/eye protection/face protection. P305+P351+P338: IF IN THE EYES: Rinse carefully with water for a few minutes. Remove contact lenses if they are and can be easily removed. Continue rinsing. P337+313 If eye irritation persists: Seek advice/report to a physician.
Important about soda: Soda ash is not baking soda! It is a corrosive substance, therefore it is absolutely necessary to use rubber gloves. It should not be used on glass and aluminum fibers.
