PRO-VET® Renal has been developed for adult cats with chronic kidney failure and to provide the right amount of nutrients to maintain body function.

In cats, chronic renal failure (CRF) is the leading cause of death. CRF occurs in 30% of cats over 12 years of age. The progression of CRF may be reduced and thus prolong patient survival, but this condition cannot be cured. Currently, there is strong evidence that a proper diet will increase the survival rate of cats with CRF. Reducing phosphorus leads to delayed loss of kidney function (Beynen, 2006). In addition to reducing phosphorus, the characteristics of dietary nutrition for feline patients with kidney disease include protein restriction, low sodium content, high potassium content, moderately alkaline urine pH, and high levels of eicosapentaenoic acid. It is clear that limiting the necessary nutrients must not cause deficiency, and the supply of nutrients should be sufficient to allow the body to function normally.

A proper renal diet can only delay the progression of nephron loss and prolong survival. Among the kidney diets available for sale for cats, there are large differences in effectiveness. The predicted efficacy of PRO-VET® Renal, which is based on its ideal composition, may be equivalent to an average survival time after a diagnosis of approximately 30 months. It is likely that PRO-VET® Renal will be very effective in reducing the risk of developing chronic renal failure in healthy cats. The risk of chronic renal failure CRF was reduced due to additional vitamin E, high EPA levels, and particularly low phosphorus levels.

With oxidation reducing substance, tocopherol-rich extract of natural origin (vitamin E) and ammonium preservatives propionate, phosphoric acid and citric acid. PRO-VET® products meet the requirements set by AAFCO, NRC and/or FEDIAF. Manufactured and packaged in the Netherlands, production is carried out according to the certification: NEN ISO 9001 / GMP +.
