Usage :

Why shouldn’t wrist blood pressure monitors be used in these people?

• Pressure measurement with a wrist brace is not practiced in infants and children up to 16 years of age.

• In the course of these diseases, there is a decrease in vascular elasticity, as in older people over 40 years of age (with age, the level of elastin decreases in the body). Therefore, by measuring with a wrist and shoulder blood pressure monitor, we will get divergent results. For this reason, we do not recommend using this type of camera for this patient group.

• Using a wrist blood pressure monitor, pressure measurement is of course carried out on the wrist artery, i.e. the radial artery. We need to know that the cross-section (diameter) of the forearm vessels is much finer, compared to the shoulder arteries. In addition, these arteries, in people with vascular diseases such as e.g. atherosclerosis of blood vessels, myocardial infarction, blood stasis, blood vessel thrombosis, coronary heart disease, congenital fragility of vessels, are susceptible to damage.

• Control of hypertension with a wrist blood pressure monitor is also not indicated in obese people. High level of body fat prevents reliable measurement (sensors in the camera are not able to break through the layer of fat cells to reach delicate vessels in the wrist)
