TD 402 DD (direct drive) is a turntable in which a very quiet motor is placed exactly under the platter and rotates it directly (hence the English term "direct drive". In addition, it is equipped with an automatic shutdown function. This functionality is extremely convenient, because you do not have to remember to turn off the device after finishing playing the disc.

The turntable also has an automatic start function, thanks to which the plate begins to rotate when you move the arm towards the plate. Thanks to this, we can start playing our favorite music very quickly.

In order to obtain the highest sound quality, a new TP 72 arm with a carbon tube was used, which significantly increased its rigidity, while reducing vibrations.

The manufacturer used a replaceable headshell (the element to which the phono cartridge is mounted), so as to make it easier for the user to use the turntable, as well as to allow easy replacement of the cartridge with another.

Audio-Technica insert included

Included with the TD 402 DD is the latest Audio-Technica cartridge from the VM95 series - the AT-VM95E model. It allows you to successively improve the signal path by easily replacing the needle, up to and including the Shibata cut model. It is worth remembering that the more advanced the needle cut, the better the sound quality. This is because the needle with a better cut, digging into the groove of the disc, goes deeper allowing you to extract more details from the recording.

Ease of use and immediate readiness for use

Out of the box, simply place the plate on the axis! The turntable is available with a pre-balanced arm, i.e. the set arm pressure on the vinyl record. The needle pressure on the plate (related to the weight of the arm) should be set according to the recommendations of the insert manufacturer. For the AT-VM95E insert, the pressure force is between 1,8 and 2,2 g (recommended 2,0 g). The manufacturer has factory set anti-skating (i.e. a parameter related to centrifugal and centripetal force that works on the shoulder). Do not change this setting, because its restoration will be possible only with the help of a grooveless plate.

Finish

The TD 402 DD comes complete with a dust cover and comes with a massive MDF plinth (housing), finished with black piano lacquer or high gloss lacquered walnut wood veneer. The high weight of the housing reduces vibrations, which translates into improved sound quality. The elegant design of the entire structure is complemented by rubber feet with silver rings and a very carefully made top plate made of brushed aluminum.
