PLANET IGS-12040MT is an industrial 12-port Full Gigabit Managed Ethernet Switch, specifically designed to build a full Gigabit infrastructure for reliable and high-speed data transmission in harsh industrial environments and for data uplinks to a remote network via fiber optics. It offers 8-port 10/100/1000BASE-T copper and 4-port 100/1000BASE-X SFP fiber optic interfaces, delivered in a rugged IP30 metal case with a redundant power system. Besides supporting a 24Gbps switch fabric to handle extremely large amounts of video, voice, and critical data in a secure topology, the IGS-12040MT provides user-friendly yet advanced IPv6/IPv4 management interfaces and rich L2/L4 switching features. Rugged Environmental Design

With its IP30 industrial aluminum enclosure, the IGS-12040MT provides a high level of immunity against industrial electrical interference and electrical surges, which are typically found on factory floors or in control cabinets adjacent to power sources. The IGS-12040MT supports redundant ring technology and features a robust, rapid self-recovery function to prevent interruptions and external intrusions. It includes advanced ITU-T G.8032 ERPS (Ethernet Ring Protection Switching) technology, Spanning Tree Protocol (802.1s MSTP), and a redundant power system in the customer's industrial automation network to enhance system reliability and uptime in harsh factory environments. In a simple Ring network, the data link recovery time can be as fast as 20ms.

Digital Input and Output for External Alarm

The IGS-12040MT supports digital input and output on its top panel. The digital input allows users to use the input to detect external device status (such as door intrusion detector) and send an alarm to administrators. The digital output can be used to alert administrators if the IGS-12040MT port has a link-down, link-up, or power failure condition.

Robust Layer 2 Features

The IGS-12040MT can be programmed for advanced switch management functions such as dynamic port link aggregation, Q-in-Q VLAN, Multiple Spanning Tree Protocol (MSTP), Layer 2/4 QoS, bandwidth control, and IGMP/MLD snooping. The IGS-12040MT allows high-speed trunking by combining multiple ports. It supports up to 6 groups of 8-port trunking and also supports fail-over as a result of the trunk link down.

The IGS-12040MT offers IPv4/IPv6 VLAN routing feature which allows crossing different VLANs and different IP addresses for highly secure, flexible management, and simple network configuration.

User-Friendly Secure Management

For efficient management, the IGS-12040MT is equipped with Console, Web and SNMP management interfaces. With its built-in Web-based management interface, the IGS-12040MT offers an easy-to-use, platform independent management and configuration. The IGS-12040MT supports SNMP and can be managed with any standard SNMPv1 and v2c based management software. To shorten the customer learning curve, the IGS-12040MT offers Cisco-like command via Telnet or console port, and the customer does not need to learn new commands from these switches. Moreover, the IGS-12040MT supports secure remote management by supporting SSH, SSL and SNMPv3 connections, which can encrypt the packet content during each session.

Flexible and Expandable Solution

The 4 mini-GBIC slots built in the IGS-12040MT support dual-speed, as they support 100BASE-FX and 1000BASE-SX/LX SFP (Small Form-factor Pluggable) fiber optic modules, which means the administrator can flexibly choose the suitable SFP transceiver according to the required transmission distance or transmission speed to boost the performance of the network.

Intelligent SFP Diagnostic Mechanism

The IGS-12040MT supports SFP-DDM (Digital Diagnostic Monitor) function, which allows the administrator to easily monitor the real-time parameters of the SFP, such as optical output power, optical input power, temperature, laser bias current, and transceiver supply voltage.

1588 Time Protocols for Industrial Computing Networks

The IGS-12040MT is designed for telecom and Carrier Ethernet applications, supporting MEF service delivery and synchronization in packet-based solutions for IEEE 1588 and Synchronous Ethernet.
