R2R+1bit Dual Structure

The D17 uses a discrete R2R converter developed by iBasso and a 1-bit digital-to-analog converter. It is equipped with a four-channel, fully balanced, symmetrical R2R digital-to-analog converter with discrete components, using a total of 284 high-precision foil resistors with an accuracy of 0,01%. The R2R decoding delivers a natural, gentle sound with a natural analog presentation, offering a unique, vibrant listening experience.

Developed in-house by iBasso, the 1-bit digital-to-analog converter uses 8 sets of 8E, a total of 64 PWM-DAC converters, providing a rich landscape of musical detail and extremely high resolution audio playback.

D17 can work in three modes:

  1. NOS Mode(PCM uses 1bit DAC) for R2R DAC,DSD decoding
  2. All to R2R(OS mode,all to PCM format)
  3. All to 1bit(SD mode,all to DSD format)

Four-channel, fully balanced, symmetrical R2R architecture with 284 pcs. high precision resistors

The D17 uses a four-channel, fully balanced, symmetrical R2R architecture and 284 carefully selected, ultra-precise foil resistors with a tolerance of one ten thousandth. Equipped with a hardware resistance compensation circuit developed by iBasso and software compensation algorithms, the D17 achieves THD+N of -104 dB in R2R mode, outperforming popular R2R devices by more than ten decibels and competing with various flagship R2R stationary digital-to-analog converters. The R2R decoding provides rich analog sound, creating a warm, gentle sound with exceptional musicality.

64 PWM-DAC, 1-bit architecture

Opening the door to acoustic realism

In 1-bit mode, four L+, L-, R+ and R- channels have 16E each, resulting in a total of 64 PWM-DAC units working together. Controlled by FPGA-Master 3.0 with precise management of input/output delays at the nanosecond level, compensating for “wiring delay” to ensure alignment and tight synchronization of the signal reaching the DAC. This not only achieves an impressive THD+N ratio of -114 dB, but also significantly improves the detail and density of the sound.

Precise control at nanosecond level, Global clock regeneration

The D17 is equipped with iBasso’s FPGA-Master 3.0 architecture, deeply integrated into two Accusilicon ultra-low phase noise femtosecond oscillators to create a clean, unified clock source. With precise nanosecond latency control and real-time clock regeneration technology, the system can simultaneously compensate for R2R decoding and 1-bit decoding, reducing clock fluctuations and distortion to a very low level. This ensures that the sound is reproduced extremely accurately, ensuring that every detail is presented in its original form.

Fully balanced headphone amplifier with incredible power

Two Nutube 6P1 tubes in the D17 model give the sound a unique tube character and a warm, gentle, yet dynamic texture. The anode is powered by a high voltage of 24 V, which ensures better linearity. Combined with a high-performance buffer amplifier, the TI BUF634A provides a stable and powerful power source. As a result, the D17 can deliver more than 1200mW + 1200mW at 32Ω, easily supporting a wide range of flagship in-ear headphones and high-impedance headphones.

Three-layer composite seismic insulation system

Additional reduction of microphone effect

The D17 uses a composite insulation system consisting of a double-layer circuit board combined with damping materials. The two layers of the circuit board are connected by pin connectors, which effectively disperses and suppresses lateral stresses and significantly reduces resonance. The tube is placed on the second layer of the circuit board using damping materials, which provides additional reduction of microphone effects. Actual measurements show that the microphone effect is below the threshold of human ear perception. Of all tube amplifiers, the D17 model from iBasso is at the forefront.

Construction based on two separate batteries.

The D17 model has a dual battery power architecture, in which the digital-to-analog converter and headphone amplifier are powered by separate batteries. This dual architecture provides stable power to the headphone amplifier section while effectively isolating digital interference. Whether operating at high gain or under heavy load, the D17 can consistently maintain a clean and stable output signal, greatly reducing distortion caused by unstable power supply. It delivers truly clear and pristine sound quality, allowing you to play recordings with the highest music quality.

Analog & digital regulation głośności

The D17 supports both analog and digital volume control. The analog volume control uses the 24-position, 4-section iBasso step potentiometer, which is only one-tenth the size of a traditional step potentiometer, while retaining all its advantages. The difference between left and right channels is less than +/- 0,1 dB.

Digital volume control is carried out using a professional DSP module. The combination of analog and digital adjustment allows for more precise volume setting.
