In 2023, Schuberth decided to use its knowledge of Formula 1 to manufacture motorcycle helmets. The Performacne line was created, a new line of motorcycle helmets made of carbon. The first product in this series is the Schuberth C5 Carbon helmet.

Schuberth C5 Carbon is the first motorcycle helmet ever developed in Schuberth Perfoemance. The helmet has a fully carbon shell, handmade in Schuberth Performance by the same specialized technicians who produce Schuberth helmets for Formula 1! Thanks to manual lamination and the autoclave baking process, the C5 Carbon shell combines incredibly low weight with extraordinary resistance. The new Schuberth C5 Carbon helmet has dual P/J approval and meets the strict standards of ECE 22.06.

The all-carbon shell of the new C5 Carbon is manufactured in the same lamination and autoclave baking process as Schuberth’s other racing helmets. Not only that, the shell is handmade by the same specialized technicians who produce helmets for the current Formula 1 World Champion – Max Verstappen.

The efficiency and complexity of production is one of the most remarkable elements that make each helmet a masterpiece. The entire production process of the new C5 Carbon is based on the principle of “one man, one shell”. This means, no more or less, that the same technician who started lamination also leads to the end of the entire shell production process.

The material that was chosen for the production of the shell of the C5 Carbon model is a carbon fiber (pre-preg) preimpregnated with the help of high resin performance called T700 twill. The weight of the weave is different and properly selected depending on the zone of the shell. All other Carbon motorcycle helmets available on the market are made of “dry carbon” / glass and aramid fibers flooded with liquid resin.

Prepreg is a common term for “fabric” (in this case carbon), which is PREimPregnated by a resin system. The resin system (usually epoxy) already contains suitable hardening agents. At room temperature, resin systems show low reactivity, but at elevated temperatures they become more reactive. The carbon prepreg material is fully ready to be placed in the mold without the addition of liquid resin. To cure the laminate it is necessary to use a combination of pressure and heat.

The ventilation in the C5 Carbon has been taken to an even higher level. The helmet has two air intakes on the jaw. The additional inlet features a replaceable, easy-to-wash filter for easy breathing in extreme conditions. The C5 Carbon is also equipped with an adjustable head ventilation inlet and a new spoiler integrated into the ventilation outlets. All this to ensure the best possible airflow – even when traveling in the most demanding conditions.

The Schuberth brand considers safety to be the overriding goal. The C5 Carbon, thanks to its fully carbon shell, offers an unparalleled level of mechanical resistance combined with extremely low weight. The new C5 Carbon has dual P/J approval and meets the stringent requirements of ECE 22.06.

Like every helmet in the SCHUBERTH collection, the C5 Carbon is equipped with an A.R.O.S. system to prevent the helmet from rolling off your head during an accident. This, combined with the changed position of the straps under the chin, significantly improves comfort around the throat.
