Veikiant dideliam slėgiui, apie 8-12 atmosferų, medis įsigers į impregnuojančią medžiagą (1 m3 medžio sugeria nuo 100 iki 300 litrų impregnavimo). Tokiu kelių valandų impregnavo proceso metu dauguma purvų, mikroorganizmų ir bakterijų, randamų medienoje, yra sunaikintos.
