BIOLASER 1 and BIOLASER 2 - comparison

The BIOLASER 1 and BIOLASER 2 stimulation lasers are devices built according to identical design assumptions. From the technical side, they differ only in the actuator - a laser diode. BIOLASER 1 emits infrared radiation with a wavelength of 790 nm or 808 nm, while BIOLASER 2 emits red radiation with a length of 635 nm.

The wavelength of light is of great therapeutic importance. Infrared radiation penetrates the skin more easily, while red radiation is absorbed more through the skin. The following diagram illustrates the absorption of laser light by biological tissue:

The BIOLASER 2 emits red light, which has less penetration through the skin, i.e. it is rather suitable for surface activities - all radiation energy is absorbed by the top layers of the skin. Infrared laser BIOLASER 1 emits radiation penetrating deeper, so it works better in the treatment of inflammation, joint or bone pain, etc. Red and infrared lasers have similar applications, except that there is a shift of the maximum effect - red by approx. 30% better heals the surface, infrared by approx. 30% better cures depth.

Additional information

Do doctors and patients need glasses?

Glasses are not necessary. Protect the eyes of the doctor and the patient, but it is enough to handle the laser carefully. Details are provided on pages 4 and 5 of the instruction manual provided with the device.

What is the maximum absorption energy in children?

In young children, the dose is usually given half that of adults, i.e. for example, the recommended dose for biostimulation is for adults from 0,05 J/cm2 to 8 J/cm2 - for children it will be from 0,05 J/cm2 to 4 J/cm2. Another example - typical irradiation of the acupuncture point in adults with a 5mW laser takes 20 seconds - for children it will be 10 seconds.
